Yes, I thank you so much too, Chris, for your courage and for tirelessly speaking truth to Power. This talk does my heart good and I feel grateful to be part of your community.

I am especially touched by the personal stories you share from your own experience, as painful as that must be. It made me happy to hear that you are studying more Arabic. It brought to mind my own dear Palestinian friend for just a short while, Salam Khalili, who was a journalist, peace activist and artist arrested after the 1967 Nakba in 1973 for writing the truth, and imprisoned and tortured for 7 years until freed by the efforts of Amnesty Int. He and his Israeli wife and two children ended up in California near where I live. He died early from his wounds. But before that he showed me his paintings of his experiences and was just beginning to teach me Arabic calligraphy. I am a calligrapher, artist and trauma therapist among other things, and to me Arabic is the most beautiful written language in the whole world, where each of its 28 letters reflects the phases of the moon. One can feel that flow in their script. The Arabs are deeply connected to the natural world and to all of the rhythms of Heaven and Earth by nature, which makes this genocide and destruction of all life in Gaza and increasingly in the West Bank all the more terrible.

I wanted to share this site that shows a few of Salam's many paintings of the endless destruction he lived through. He was such a beautiful soul, dedicated to peace until the day of his death and beyond:

https://www.arteidolia.com/the-paintings-of-salam-khalili/

I hope you get to see this post, and I thank you again. It is so important that the personal stories be told that make what we see from far away more real, more heartfelt, because through their lived stories and images we know and feel in our blood and bones that we are of course one intertwined human family and that what happens to them is happening to us, in us, as well.

What a privilege to be here at this time to listen to Chris. His words move me in all directions, in a contradiction of feelings - the despair and pain of the reality, the feeling of impotence, and the marvel at his poetic way of telling the most atrocious events. There is beauty on his words and this makes the message so much more powerful

Chris I hope you read this

The biggest recipient of US foreign aid in the last 50 years has been Israel. To the tune of $350 billion. That is precisely the amount calculated to be required to end world hunger - see the Guardian.

Even so this is a tiny fraction of what it has cost the US to support unblinkingly the international racist-apartheid scofflaw that is Israel. Much of that is incalculable but surely it includes much if not all of-the invasions of Iraq, Libya, Syria and other countries, devastated by the US and its allies. The position of the Israel lobby has been uniform and predictable . Kill, maim and destroy. Memorable among these war crimes has been the killing of 500 k Iraqi women and children “worth it” to the hideous Madeleine Albright and her sidekick Hillary C. (We came we saw, he died).

But by far the biggest expenditure was the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan where the uninvited thugs stayed 20 years claiming to be searching for Bin laden who of course wasn’t there. But giving them an opportunity to bomb weddings and commit savage war crimes along with their Australian mini- me wannabe Oz allies, who unsuccessfully tried to cover them up.

So what does Afghanistan have to do with Israel? Everything. The WesterN MSM has tried very hard to suppress it . but BinLaden explained his terrorist acts in a public letter entitled Letter to America published by the Guardian but in no American papers that I could find. He makes it explicit that the treatment of the Palestinians by Israel and its schoolyard bully protector was behind it. Indeed there is nothing to contradict this.

Cost of Afghanistan? $3 trillion! At least another trillion for aid if Intel , American troops and arms are included , this plus the cost of the other invasions must bring the total into the $5 trillion range.

So for ten million Israelis, this comes to $500k or half a million per Israeli Jew , dwarfing the personal worth of the average American. Just for Israel! I’m reluctant to put a dollar figure on the million plus deaths from the invaded countries, not to mention the deaths of American and allied soldiers.

So what of this was ever it to a vote? Nothing but 24/7 propaganda. That’s why not one American in a hundred is aware of these data.

A detailed accounting must be in front of the American voter for the coming election.

I don’t agree. A man with his level of intellect and life experience while living in a country with obvious, serious problems, problems which themselves have major moral dimensions, such as man might reasonably be expected to address them occasionally while diverting his attention from a small, far-away conflict.

Expand full comment

This is a reasonable criticism, but genocide is such a heinous act that it seems appropriate to spend most of your time and attention in stopping it especially if your country is a co conspirator. Every day hundreds of people are being murdered through bombing, starvation and disease. In addition many people are suffering. What do you think of the young women who lost both legs and a hand amputated without pain killers.? Do you think it would have been appropriate during the Nazi against the Jews to spend most of your time and effort to save them?

Chris Hedges has deserted the U.S. working class ...

Even before the Gaza attacks, he abandoned us upon the MAR '20 lockdowns ...

For the past two decades, he gave us every indication that he'd be leading our fight against tyranny in the U.S. when the time came, but exactly the opposite has occurred ... he describes his report here on Substack as "Covering US foreign policy, economic realities, and civil liberties in American society" ... but I just counted 53 posts made here since OCT 7, and only 3 dwelled on topics other than the ISR-Palestinian conflict ... there ARE things going on in the U.S. that may not be as urgent, but in a big picture sense, are much more important to our survival than Gaza ... and there are people out there like Hedges' friend Naomi Wolf, former Phizer exec Karen Kingston and Dr Peter McCullough who are literally risking their lives to expose the truth ...

Hedges has deftly sided with the globalists on the issues of climate change and vax-related bodily autonomy ... he has also called those of us who question the motives of our elected officials members of "the lunatic fringe" and "conspiracy theorists" ... listen to what he says here is his otherwise terrific AMERICAN SADISM speech:

Go to the 44:32 mark:

https://scheerpost.com/2021/06/29/chris-hedges-speaks-on-american-sadism/

He then brazenly refused to stand with the U.S. working class against the COVID vax mandates and passports ... just watch him dance to avoid a direct answer to a question on mandates and passports during a 2021 Jimmy Dore interview ...

He blew it off by simply saying: "... that was a decision that I made" ...

Go to the 8:12 mark:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NusQH0pnX7Y

And then, on DEC 2, 2021 ...

The FDA was compelled by a court ruling to release Phizer's vax trial data that revealed 1,223 post-jab deaths and 34,762 adverse events in the first 10 weeks of its trial ... The FDA attempted to delay the full release of this data for 75 years! ... the release of this data proved that the COVID vax was not "safe & effective" ... but then, just 30 days later ...

On JAN 1, 2022 ...

Chris Hedges made this comment on the Krystal Kyle & Friends Podcast (Episode #54):

Go to the 1:08:47 mark:

https://krystalkyleandfriends.substack.com/p/episode-54-audio-chris-hedges#details

"I don't think we're going to stop the pandemic and mutations until everybody gets vaccinated" ... Chris Hedges DID NOT have to take sides on this issue ...

He could have said it's a personal decision, but no ...

Most people would never tell another person to "walk the plank" if they knew better, but that's exactly what Hedges did here ... he knew the VAX was rushed to market after only one year (the average is 10 years), he knew about the explosive FDA FOIA release and he had to have seen the many videos of vax-injured people ... but he chose to push the "safe & effective" narrative anyway! ... and then about 2m after making that same comment during the interview above, Hedges openly admitted that he "does not trust Moderna or Phizer" ... clearly, this man did not give a hoot about the consequences ...

Thx for nothin' Chris

This morning, I posted this under Chris’s 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse post yesterday.

********************

Thank you, Chris, I think every Democrat and all school children in America should be required to read what you wrote about Joe Biden, much of which was news to this Independent.

Instead of being in bed with Israel, Biden should be doing all he can to stop the invasion form Mexico. Yet yesterday, the all-wise U.S. Supreme Court ruled Texas had no right to line its southern border with razor wire, after the wall Donald Trump had promised Mexico would pay for, which got Trump elected in 2016, didn’t get paid for by Mexico, and most of it didn’t get built.

If I were president, I would ban American travel to Mexico, money being sent from America to people in Mexico, and Mexican products and services from entering America, until Mexico stops the invasion from it into America.

I would bring the troops home and put them on America’s southern border to repel the invasion as peacefully as possible.

I would put American soldiers, armed to the teeth, in American public lower, middle and high schools, to protect school children from domestic terrorists armed to the teeth with guns protected by the National Rifle Association, gun lovers, and the United States Supreme Court, none of whom ever once considered Amendment 2’s right of the citizens to bear arms is predicated on a well regulated militia to carry those arms.

As for how I would deal with the war in Palestine, which will continue for so long as Israel is there, it’s biblical, I would abandon Israel altogether, and give Israel the choice of stop fighting in Palestine, because it ran out of American ammunition, or use its nukes against its Islamic enemies and make Paelstine uninhabitable, and there is no holy land for Judaism, Christendom and Islam to squabble over.

To attempt to head off that dystopia, I release all of America’s UFO files, hoping that so jangles the thinking, hopes and dreams of every person and government and political party and religion on this planet, that they all put aside their personal squabbles and unite against the sum of their greatest fears, which heretofore they had ignored or not even believed they had.

In that way, Israel’s best friend Donald Trump, and Joe Biden, and their lemmings all get chopped off at the groin.

Kinda sounds like you want an 'Iron Curtain'. How American.

Expand full comment

The Iron Curtain didn’t allow people to leave the Soviet Union and go somewhere else, as well as it kept people from going into the Soviet Union. America doesn’t need any more immigrants, from anywhere, but its southern border is a real problem and has been for a good while, and that’s because Mexico has not been inclined to do anything about it. So, let Mexico trade with other countries, and see how much it misses America dollars, and maybe Mexico will decide to stop the flood through and from it to the America southern border. On the other side of that “fence,” America has many internal troubles, which it needs to give its full attention, and one way to help America do that is stop immigration, and another way is to stop its foreign military excursions. And, the way things are going with the political/religious landscape in America, it looks to me that the time is coming when the US Military will be needed inside of America to try to keep it from going into another civil war. It’s so much easier to hold forth about something awful going on across an ocean than is to roll up the sleeves and deal with bad shit going on inside America.

Expand full comment

You bring up another point. I certainly agree that stopping foreign military excursions would be a good thing. However, the creation of that military in the first place causes a problem that's been evident for over 2,000 years. The problem of the 'returning military'.

First, you train youngsters to follow orders and hate 'the other' so that they can more easily kill fellow humans. Next you set them loose on 'others' halfway around the world. But, when they return home, you reap the results of your ill-conceived plan. The result (as Greece and Rome found out) is that your 'republic' often becomes a dictatorship, and that leads to the same distinctly authoritarian division between those that take and those that give orders. This submerges any vestige of an egalitarian (democratic) ethic. Such a situation created the American Revolution (among a few others). The 'United States' were States that found common cause against the authoritarian British Crown. That's what made 'America', not hatred of 'the Other'. The hate-filled Pilgrims made cause with the peace-loving Quakers.

Are you, perhaps, a former military minion?

Expand full comment

Never served in the military, and was spared by what seemed a miracle at the time from being drafted during the Vietnam war. That any country feels it needs a military, or uses its military against another country, speaks to the devolution of humanity, in my opinion. Yet most countries, including America, have a military, so I say put it to use defending America from the southern invasion, defending children in public schools, and defending America from insurrection.

In a different sense, I am very much a soldier, and I have fought many battles in many wars, but the weapons were, and remain, words spoken and written. The chain of command I serve is vast beyond human comprehension, and although some religions think or believe they have a grasp on it, it is unfathomable and cannot be comprehended in human ways, but its workings can be seen at times and acknowledged.

I have participated in many public forums or places: churches, government meetings, face to face, and in many online forums. Sometimes I receive a like or attaboy, but mostly slings and arrows.

If you are not familiar with it, I suggest you read THE SPEAR OF DESTINY, by Trevor Ravenscroft, which is about Hiter and his inner circle, how they became so powerful, and some people with special abilities who opposed them and reported to the Allied Command.

Humanity is really messed up. Palestine is really messed up. America is really messed up. Just about every placer is really messed up, while some places are less messed up.

I live in Birmingham, Alabama, which once was one of the seats of white supremacy in America, but today Birmingham is a blue city surrounded by seas or red.

I’m 81 years old an I don’t figure I will be around long enough to sere America end up like Great Britain, Rome, Greece and the Persian Empire. But I think that is where America is headed and I see no way to avoid it, which leaves for each person living in America to do the next right thing, so to speak.

A Court far above any human court observes all of those proceedings, and in that Court we all are on trial. .

Hedges has given up on us, so here's what I want to see him do:

1) Rather than making two posts per week on Gaza here on Substack, I'd like to see him alternate his commentary by devoting one per week on the Gaza genocide and another regular weekly piece on the SPECIFIC areas of suffering by the U.S. working class ... I trust you notice, he hasn't had much to say about the plight of the U.S. working class since the lockdowns, and virtually nothing since OCT 7th.

2) If he chooses to ignore us, then I challenge him to establish a Gaza support fund ... he has 60k SUBs here on Substack, most which I'm willing to bet have never even heard of Anera.org ... such a project would turn the growing public awareness into badly needed financial support ... gosh, has he even mentioned anera.org?

3) Start to cover the affects of COVID tyranny on the U.S. working class on a regular basis ...

4) If and when he decides to comment on other issues, I'd like to see him abandon his divisive rhetoric on the supposed danger posed by TRUMP-MAGA types and directly confront the real enemy - the World Economic Forum, and call-out the perpetrators by name ...

5) This would be huge ... I'd like to see Hedges do regular interviews with level-headed red-voice types like JD Rucker, Mike Adams and big name populists voices like Tucker Carlson.

6) Write a new book that describes a model for rebuilding American Society after the coming economic collapse ...

7) Jump into the conversation on the amendments to the WHO pandemic treaty ... with the WHO's agenda being a bit wobbly lately, the timing would be perfect ...

8) Let him engage in some true acts of leadership for the first time since he directly confronted Obama in 2012 on the amendments to SECTION 1021 of the NDAA. That was an awesome piece of badly needed activism, that was Hedges at his best!

And now, you are free to bury me with excuses on why just "can't" do any of these ...

My criticism is that since October 10th the tenor and the headlines of his pieces fulminate against Israel and their ‘genocide’ without a shred of balance and behaving as if he has never seen worse--and I believe he has. Do we have to agree with everything a person believes or every action. We have had this debate before. Stopping Genocide is EVERYTHING! Vote NO on Genocide Joe.

But of course! ...

But you miss my point ... for the past two decades, Hedges has urged us to directly confront tyranny - even when things look bleak! ... but when the lockdowns were declared, he tucked his tail between his legs and left town ... ya see, you can't even disagree with someone who refuses to take a stand with us ...

It’s not a personal decision, just as deciding to kill somebody.

I think infecting someone is an assault and should be prosecuted as such.

The U.S. constitution amendments took this into consideration ...

And accordingly advised us to keep our heads ...

The vax is a bio-weapon and it's killing people: 17m worldwide and 600k here in the U.S.

Covid-19 ii a bio-weapon, it got loose before Red China could create the vaccine, having both would have given Red China huge leverage over humanity. So, God, or something, set the bio-weapon loose to keep Red China from becoming that dominant? Then, along came a New York Hassidic Jew family practice physician, Vladimir Putin, who designed an early stage infection cure: hydroxychloroquine, zinc and azithromycin, which he field tested on his own patients, to keep them out of hospitals and alive, and it worked. Hydrozychlorine had one use, which was to transport zinc into body cells, where Covid-!9 took up residence. The virus could not replicate well in a zinc environment. Azithromycin was for secondary infections. A 5 day treatment course, very inexpensive, administered at the onset of symptoms, worked. It did not work if a patient was showing advanced symptoms.

Dr. Zelenio he wrote a letter to President Trump and his chief of staff Mark Meadows about the cure, and Sean Hannity interviewed Dr. Zelenko on his FOX show, and on Television Trump told America it might be a miracle cure, and the FDA gave emergency approval for using hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid-19, then Biden, the Democrats, CDC and Dr. Fauci, NIH, WHO, Lancet, the medical industrial complex and the liberal news media when haywire against hydroxychloroquine, which had been used for decades to treat malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. The FDA rescinded is approval for hydroxychloroquine, and Trump initiated Operation Warp Speed, instead of getting himself a new FDA director who would reinstate Zenelko’s cure, which a lot of American doctors were giving their patients and getting the same results that Zelenko had gotten.

Trump could have saved America and the world from Red China’s bioweapon. That was his reason for being elected in 2016, if you factor in God. In that sense, Trump was sent by God. All the other theories of Trump being sent by God are pure horseshit. Now, Americans face the grim possibility of voting either for Biden or for Trump, who told Israel he is their best friend. Or voting for a third-party candidate. Or not voting.

Chris Hedges knows that scenario very well. Hedges knows America may end up in its 2nd civil war. And that is why I say Hedges should wind up his coverage of the war in Gaza and turn his attention to what is going on inside his own country’s boundaries. Meanwhile Hedges is making splendid earning$ from subscriber$, including us, bashing Israel, and giving Hamas a pass. Would Hedges make the same splendid earning$ bashing Trump and Biden and their lemmings? Would Hedges get death threats if he started bashing Trump and Biden and their cults? Will the U.S.Supreme Court receive death threats if it rules Amendment 14, Section 3 of the United States Constitution bars Trump from holding public office? Or if that Court rules Trump, and no president, has total immunity to criminal prosecution for acted performed when president?

Looks to me America is fucked with Biden or Trump in the White House, but Biden and his lemmings dont remind me of Adolph Hitler and his lemmings, Look at film footage and photos of the Charlottesville protest, MAGA rallies, and the January 6 insurrection, and you will see oceans of white people. In the law is the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur - the thing speaks for itself. A picture is worth a thousand words. The South is rising again, and Donald Trump is its Imperial Wizard.
