This is The Chris Hedges Report, columns and broadcasts about US foreign policy, economic realities, books, and civil liberties in American society, by Chris Hedges, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, bestselling author, and activist.
Same here too! I was just thinking about the need to economize in these uncertain times but whipped out my credit card immediately. Because of the de-platforming of RT, Chris's commentary and interviews may be less accessible to a mass audience. But now he is free of any taint of the stench of Vladimir Putin. May the truth prevail!
Ditto! Chris, I was reared in the First Presbyterian Church in Midland, TX. My mother was one of little Dubya’s Sunday School teachers. She and I vigorously opposed his 2003 Iraq War, indeed, we opposed his entire presidency. Years earlier, there was a Liberal head pastor at our church (by then I was in Buffalo, NY, at a professional ballet boarding school), but heard that the congregation strongly disliked the pastor’s scolding, his criticism of the segregation of GOP and Dem citizens, his strong civil rights stand. Eventually, a young Conservative on a church committee got rid of the Liberal pastor. I wish I could say my parents were on the Left. They were not. My mother became more left wing in her later years, however, and my father, a WW2 Navy veteran, became strongly anti-war in the last decades of his life.
Same. I'm sad this is how things have to work, but I'm happy to help. I have the luxury of contributing. Even if others aren't, I'm glad Chris still wants the information to be free.
So happy to support this inspiring commentary. I hope you present this audience with guidance for action we can take to effect the change you advocate. Bravo, Chris
Totally agreed with Dolgrin, subscribed in a New York minute! Thank you, Chris Hedges, for your work, especially for your unfiltered commentary. More than anyone else, your work is the top-of-the-food-chain. And oh, by the way, thank you for not supporting the Iraqi and Afghanistan invasions while standing up to The All-Mighty New York Times!
Chris is one of the biggest and effective voices for veganism, yet I’ve hardly seen him talk about it! But as Chris has pointed out, the ones crushing the animals are the same ones crushing everyone else and everywhere. Chris, if you ever do any kind of looking back episodes of little known activists, I hope you look up the life of human and animal activist Henry Spira. Henry had a long involvement with many of the causes you support and eventually saw protection of animals as the cause he ultimately had to devote his whole life to. One of the most outstanding things about him is he kept his ego out of his work. His tactics, borrowed from what he saw and assisted with in the civil rights movement in the 60’s, led to unprecedented achievements for the animal movement. Thanks for your valuable work, I’m trying to buy your books without using Amazon! When I get some of your books, they’ll be donated to all the public libraries. Please everyone, IF you can afford it, consider doing likewise!
A great book about Henry Spira’s life is titled Ethics into Action, by Peter Singer. There you see Henry’s involvement with unions, his reporting in small newspapers on civil rights marches, his time as a school teacher in the poorer areas of New York City, and finally his move to vegetarianism and the first activist to shut down cruel experiments on cats at the Museum of Natural history. Rather than believe the saying, “You can’t fight city hall”, Henry said you can fight city hall and you CAN win.And he proved it many times. His methods described are a virtual blueprint of how to accomplish effective actions that can apply to any good struggle. Worth reading for that reason alone.
Agreed Anne. The MSM in Oz (where I live) faithfully echo the current Conservative Federal Government - which seems to have more than its fair share of spivs, chancers and time-wasters. Best wishes. Julian
I’m sorry you lost your show on RT Chris. I’m afraid the public won’t know how egregious and cynical this attack on the press and first amendment is for years to come, if ever.
Truly bizarre to be living in McCarthy era 3.0. People wonder why the left is always so weak.
People are vulnerable to propaganda. But there are breakthroughs I see all the time. Supporting Chris here like you are is what will help make the difference.
It’s getting stronger. The fact that everyone commenting here shows it. Let’s get out there, alone or with friends and keep the work going. We have potential allies all over, consider reaching out in places you think are hopeless in trying to reach, you may be surprised!
I knew who I was, my father's son. Bravo! The highest compliment a son can give his father. Love to listen to you Chis, and share your love of your fellow man.
Never hit subscribe so fast in my life. Thank you for finding a place to continue your work!
Same. Grateful.
Same here! So thankful for this platform.

Same, with much gratitude.

Or as I said in my comment on Scheerpost, quoting the great 31st century intellectual Philip J. Fry "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"
Exactly what my words were going to be!

Thanks from Australia. More information is never enough and we are sorely lacking here.

Hello again, Chris! Happy to hear from you so soon after RT shut down.
Great to see you here Chris, welcome!
Worth every penny and more.
At last! A real “no brainer” decision.
Absolutely! Chris is one of the only voice of reason left out there. Subscribed in a flash!!
Thank you, Chris Hedges, for opening my eyes to many things in our country and in the world about which I was blind.
