Thank you, Chris and Joe Sacco, for these cartoons. I will enjoy them quietly here at home with a cup of coffee. However, I will not attempt to share them because most of the people I know have evolved into a deafening silence about the ongoing genocide and have made it very clear to me how un-cool it is to even mention genocide in their presence. Now that's evolution.

That's devolution. Do you think they react, or don't react, that way because it's too much for the brain to take in and accept? Or do you think they believe Israel is "defending itself" and there's no way to break through that rationalization?

Marcia,

We were discussing this yesterday. If people involve themselves with what's happening in Gaza, the lies their lives depend on will begin to show. This will destabilize them and then, what will they do? We've also been enslaved.

I don't care to speculate why many people are silent (therefor complicit IMO) about genocide. That is for each individual to deal with. It is indeed a devolution. It's too much for me to take this on too, but I won't bury my head in the sand or pretend it's OK and hope the Democrats win the coming election - that somehow requires me to be silent.

SHARE them if you don't what all these reporters write will make NO difference.

Are you scared of losing friends...........if you cannot share this then they are NOT your friends?

I've been sharing non-mainstream writers / information for years, but never thought I'd need to elaborate on the wrongness of genocide because people would know without prompting that it is morally indefensible. Only a few bother to read what I send now, especially these days (been at this for over 20-years) - that's why I stay away from MSM and read Chris Hedges (and other former mainstream journalists) as well as reading the comments of those that do understand what's happening in Gaza (or Ukraine, China) that differ greatly with the official narratives. I will not compromise my moral standards and if that means losing friends - so be it. Adios.

John. I feel for you and many people who can speak out without fear.

Never compromise..never. When one does compromise we lose our souls.

I do not compromise Jenny - my soul is intact, as well as my conscience. I am not afraid to speak out - I know what the price is for being silent and I ain't payin'. But - I will not place myself in a group (think) that seems to have lost their minds / souls, so I have company - I have no desire for such company. Be well Jenny.

Well done. My personal dufference is that I was aware of the slower genocide going on for decades. "Mowing the lawn," every couple years, the denial of calories, clean water, electricity, medical care, free movement of any kind, no justice in courts,

Although Gaza is the most urgent issue, and we cannot turn our eyes from them, there is increasing settler violence and land confiscation in the West Bank, aka illegally Occupied Territory. Here’s a group we can support, made up of committed Israelis and Palestinians working together to protect the Palestinians there.

I'm still trying to get a copy of Sacco's book on Gaza. Thanks for the new terminology, even if my mouth refuses to say it.

Have you read Caitlin Johnstone’s poem, Weep? Find it on Substack. So perfect. Things look hopeless from where I sit, sorry to say.

There must be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Pope Francis has said what is needed, now he must do what is needed by going to Gaza and standing for peace, justice and freedom.

Thanks Joe I got your book, it was much more realistic viewing the realities in Gaza through your eyes. Watching those bombs dropping and the new choice of Kamala for president, the only thought I had was "great" choice Genocide Joe replaced by "Bomber Harris"! P.S. Joe's book is large both in pages and size and well worth the purchase!

BLESS YOUR HEARTS! Both you guys. I obtained Joe Sacco's book PALESTINE on Amazon and it's a masterpiece. Keep your pens wet and your powder dry.

Homage to the late George Carlin- Somebody finally said the eighth word you can never say on television: PALESTINE.

How people can know about this genocide AND NOT FEEL immense sorrow is beyond me. It's a massive crime. My country is providing the means to murder while they smile in our faces. Do they think we'll forget? I won't. How horrible!

Expand full comment

My country is complicit in providing the means to murder, as well. We sell weapons to the U.S. who in turn sends them on to Israel. When challenged on this topic, there is silence.

It has never been explained how Hamas was able to arm, organize, and attack Israel by surprise.

There are very, very few surprises in Gaza, I imagine, from the best intelligent service in the world.

From the sea, land, and air if somebody in Gaza so much was breaks wind, goes home, throws a rock, the Israels know.

This question is a whole nother story. We may get to the bottom of it, probably when all of us here now are no longer alive. Let's hope those who manage to survive can learn the truth. But we are still waiting for the Kennedy assassination documents to be made public.

For instance do you know that Israel paid Hamas for a long time.

Miko Peled has answers to your question. Check out his work. Hamas was able to launch these attacks due to Israeli incompetence and arrogance.
