Even here in Canada the media is pro war and Justin Trudeau mouths the same patriotic claptrap! His father P.M Pierre Eliot Trudeau on the other hand was antiwar and welcomed American Draft dodgers from the Vietnam war without question! I remember then the pro war voices called him a "Pinko" and lambasted him when he supported Castro against American hegemony. The USA's permanent war economy makes Orwell's War IS Peace dystopia the American nightmare that we live in today!

China Premier Zhou Enlai wrote The Five Principles Of Peace in 1953 after WW II. USA adheres to none of them.

*Especially* in Canada, where the descendants of Ukrainian SS play a role on Canadian politics much like the role that Cuban exiles play in Florida.

I did not know that about the Trudeaus and find it enlightening. Thank you much.

Military-Keynsianism that pulled us out of the Great Depression in the 1930’s continued after the war.

Boeing, for example, made sure that there was a factory in every state to assure coin-operated politicians vote for them or they are told that their state will lose jobs.

They were not alone.

Military-Keynisanism is now full throttle with the new racket: --- Cold War 2.0.

And military-Keynsianism has morphed into fascism.

A corporate state beholden to six military contractors and multiple ancillary entities to keep the stock market open and to assure super-imperialism.

Politicians care little about our destiny. The Beacon on the Hill is a haunted house, much like that displayed in the movie Psycho.

As for the politicians that wear the garb of democrat or republican:

Marx writes: “As for the individual bureaucrat, the purpose of the state becomes his private purpose, a hunt for promotion, careerism.”

----- “Critique of Hegel’s Doctrine of State,” in Karl Marx: Early Writings, trans. Rodney Livingstone and Gregor Benton (New York: Vintage, 1975), 111.

We live in a class society. The oneness you speak o Dennis, is a metaphysical 'one'.

We live in a class society. And this is what causes divisions, alienation, war, government overthrows and eventual social collapse.

Well stated. Some strive for a betterment impossible to achieve, while believing all the lies. Class is a structure that needs breakdown.

Bill and Hillary Clinton have done such harm to the USA and it continues. Meanwhile they are both waiting in the wings to retake power and add to funds in their questionable foundation. Their foundation is based on Jeffrey Epstein kind of political power.

The purpose of the wars that we made is not to win them but to profit off of them: each and every one of them for many decades now.

Yes, but I wonder the connection between that and the resources our country is always seeking to take from others.

Expand full comment

Yes, of course, the human perversion of raping, murdering, pillaging and the taking of resources of invaded or conquered countries has been with us for millenia...

The newest addicting perversion is the oil and gas, as that is equated to the riches, ie, money.

Unfortunately the status quo will not change until we usher in a new socio-economic political system that will solve problems instead of creating and perpetuating them.

Capitalism allocates goods and services based simply upon who can afford to pay for them. Money is the grease that oils the wheels of this ‘machine’ and those in control make it run to their personal financial benefit.

Mr Kucinich rightfully recognises and challenges the waste of money and lives that the warmongers within the Military-Industrial Complex, and the politicians they control, squander in much the same way as other political activists do for other industries of concern: private prisons; fossil fuel corporations; big pharma etc etc.

I am always amazed however that, in spite of laser-like focus and understanding of germane issues within each of their targeted industries, almost nobody ‘connects the dots’ and implicates the real villain of the piece, the underlying capitalist system itself.

Why is this?

If the system that governs the planet is unable to prevent, (actually encourages) perpetual war or the looming extinction of life due to inaction on global warming, among all the other global problems we see daily, it is clearly time to examine some alternative to the failing system that is capitalism.

Historically, Capitalism was innovative and was the engine that took us from medieval Feudalism to where we are now, however where we are now has imperceptibly become a dark and very dangerous place. As Mr Kucinich mentioned in his interview, we need a global unified approach to solve our looming problems; as such, I believe we need to seriously consider a new political and socio-economic infrastructure in order to prevent a total collapse of society.

Capitalism IS the problem.

Wonderful report. I remember this man for protecting public utilities in Chicago. He is more of what we need to turn our country around. Not only is it horrific to cash in on war, it is pure evil. Death is natural, but never by war. Old Italian saying is "the truth will set us free." Let us not forget the misdeeds of the past, beginning with the founding on the backs of others. How has our country been made great? Always on the backs of others and not by our own powerful and humane ability

Chris: Just a fact-checking matter. A squadron of F-35s are based at the Vermont Air National Guard, but the F-35s are not manufactured in Vermont. Suprisingly Bernie was favorable to the basing of F-35s in Vermont despite significant public opposition. Go figure.

Thanks, Chris and Dennis, for airing this important analysis. Too many progressives are being either silenced or have bought into the propaganda that is fueling this war. I'm sending invitations out to 10 people to receive your report, Chris. This education is critical in preventing a much wider and more dangerous war.

Congress--both the Dims & Repugs--is bought and paid for by Israel. And former Congresswoman Cynthia Mckinney reported this over a decade ago that all incoming junior congresspersons have to either sign or write out a loyalty oath to ISRAEL. Since NO ONE came out to refute MckInney's claim or call her a liar, we can assume she's correct. So that should tell us all we need to know as to why certain things are transpiring. The question is: what is the American populace going to do about it?
