The neocons who run this country care nothing about how many are killed, Americans or foreigners, as their lives personally are not affected.
For the neocons and rulers, these people whose lived are so many cattle or sheep., so many pawns to be played and sacrificed without so much as a second thought. Hell, they'd gladly exterminate 99% of life on earth, as long as they got dominion over whatever was left.
To understand that it was an Australian as Reuters Bureau Chief in Baghdad changes the complexion somewhat of the disastrous events which befell the news personnel attacked by the US flying "gunship" later revealed via Chelsea Manning to Julian Assange and so to the world. It makes the ugliness of the US government assaults and torture on Chelsea Manning and Julian Assange even more morally reprehensible - if that is at all possible. Thanks for the interview, Chris - I have now purchased Line in the Sand - by Dean YATES - and begun reading it.
I commend all legitimate journalists especially those in combat zones. My concern is “what is wrong with the human species?” Why is our species always at war? Is it a power struggle? Why can we not live in peace? This need to control others dates back probably to the beginning of time.
We absolutely need people to report the truth but the cost to these reporters is unimaginable, frankly unacceptable.
They see everyone as collateral damage. War, lies, systems of state torment and oppression, mass gas lighting, cyber warfare, psyops. Then yes being sectioned is not fun. Had 1 myself for something. Sorry he’s suffering. Id be interesting in reading his book if it goes on kindle.. take care of yourself dean
Sounds to me like Dean Yates knew he should have taken his employer and the U.S. military to task for the blatant murders of his co-workers at Reuters at the hands of the U.S. military. Soldiers have no right to become murders under any circumstance ---or legal precedent. Unfortunately, Mr. Yates chose not to deal with it as a reporter and human being. As many creatures of habit are prone to do, he handled Collateral Murders the same way as he handled prior experience--in this case terrorism in Bali. He froze. He never explains why he froze. Not acting on your moral compass is not something, in my opinion, that you ever put behind you. He has but one life as Dean Yates and he has brainwashed himself into thinking that he has re-invented himself and moved beyond what he has witnessed in real life (and on video). He hasn't. I believe this will always be a source of cognitive dissonance for him and he hasn't truly healed or gotten beyond this fact. He has simply learned to rationalize (and thus neutralize) his moral compass in order to live with it and, as he says, lead a "happy life". I'm not passing judgement or saying I might not have not bent under similar duress. But I refuse to brush these cold, hard, facts under the table and say it was a "good" interview with a happy ending. It wasn't...and it isn't. Julian Assange (and indeed, the world) continues to suffer for the injustices that those involved refuse to bring to account. The truth is that this includes Mr. Yates and Reuters.
