After almost giving up finally connected. First, after listening to your interview with Dennis Kucinich I got his book. I was a bit intimidated by the length but it was a page turner from the start. At 91 it feels that this chaotic time is different from others in the past. Maybe our expiration date has passed. On another note working on a local level with a wonderful group of young people, SEE Alliance, I am more hopeful than I have been for quite awhile. Time will tell.

Great session last evening. You didn’t get to my question, so I’ll pose a refined version: We know the university presidents who send in police to violently break up colonies of protesters against the carnage in Gaza are morally hollow and corrupt, but we need documentation or at least reporting on how much they are being paid, or the amounts of the jeopardized endowments at stake for the purchase of their unconstitutional decisions, that also violate their own institutional ideals and principles. These horrendous crimes could be the occasion for exposing how AIPAC and the Military-Industrial Complex corrupt our presumed ideals and the institutions tasked with upholding them, from the President on down.

regarding who the government works for - I quite like Caitlin Johnstone's take "Things get a lot clearer when you understand that the US empire is not a national government which happens to run a bunch of worldwide military operations, it’s a worldwide military operation which happens to run a national government."

Thank you Chris for answering my question. I totally agree genocide is a moral red line. As a longtime registered independent, I have longed for the day when a candidate outside of the establishment parties could actually win. Most of the American electorate want an alternative to Biden or Trump, but unfortunately neither Dr. West or Jill Stein have been able to gain sufficient traction. They will share the anti-genocide faction of the anti-war vote, while RFK Jr will win the support of the anti-war, except for Israel vote. I am at the point where I am seriously considering moving to the Global South. There is no safety anywhere with a sociopathic ruling class, but I must at least join the resistance where it has a chance of doing some good.

Is it not the case that the war with Iraq and the assassination of Saddam and Gadhafi in Libya were primarily because they were negotiating the setting up of a system to trade oil in dinars?

Chris you are one of the very best. Wishing you all the best. I have about 70 pages left to read of Sheldon Wolin's Democracy Inc. I first heard of this fine publication while listening to your work. So much of what this book contains speaks to not only the first decade of this century because provides the background for understanding how the past fifteen has devloped the RED/Blue Corporate State. The "young republicans" of Richard Nixon's administration and the corporate dems who abandoned Jimmy Carter and decided to become Republicans with a soft and reasonable voice. Wondering if you could create some content about how the current circus of paid for representation of the three branches of government operate in 2024. Have you listened to Cornel West recent Gifford Lectures and are you planning on bring him back on your show soon? I hope.

Great Q&A: I watched it twice. I am an economist and I don’t think the US economy is in good shape. It’s not that the variables are inaccurate. The case for the economy allegedly doing well has more to do with HOW the variables are being used and interpreted. Thanks for the Chris Hedges Report,
