The artificiality of American society as well as the desire for (more) artificiality pushed in our media writ large is increasingly blocking all hope of choices and decisions grounded in integrity and ethics, not just in leadership but at all levels of our society. Magical thinking is ascendant, and fake is all the rage. And it seems like the most sociopathic among us are gaining traction everywhere and their victims are either happy cultists or dissidents steamrolled by them. Systemic implosion seems inevitable, no matter who wins.
