What a beautiful tribute to someone you obviously care for deeply and who sounds like an original...someone in love with life from whom we can draw inspiration. I hope Meghan is found. After hearing her story (thank you Eunice), I was moved to donate to the GoFundMe campaign her brother began. I did so also on behalf of my daughter who was stalked mercilessly by an ex-boyfriend. Unfortunately, social media makes it that much more difficult to hide from abusers. Thank you for drawing attention to this issue and, again, for sharing the story of your friend.

I read and love all your work Chris, and this has been one of the most powerful stories you have written in my opinion. Praying for some kind of breakthrough. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪

Western society spends so much time and energy vilifying women, restraining us and blaming us, while simultaneously not protecting us from society itself and then, the final insult, blaming us for being victims. She should not have gone to that party, park after dark or been out alone in general. Gandhi said that a society can be judged by how it treats its animals. Can and should a society be judged by how it treats its women? If so, how?

I didn’t mean Meghan should not have gone to that park. It was an example of the generalized victim blaming that is often foisted upon female victims. What is the value of a society in which women can’t move freely and safely, whether alone, in groups, or in the company of men?

Powerful tribute, very moving. Brought to mind other generous souls I’ve know and continue to mourn. Like spying the Rachel on the horizon.

I often fantasize how different and beautiful a world this would be if not for the ever present fear women feel around men every day. How freely we could live our lives without being constantly on guard against male violence. How amazing it would be to pursue our interests and expeess our talents without restrictions or judgements. How healthy and happy we would be living in our female bodies, not being scrutinized for not measuring up to the impossible standard for female bodies.

My daughter and granddaughter may never know this freedom which makes me desperately sad. Men are clearly not thriving under patriarchy, a hierarchical system of dominance and exploitation which has brought us to the brink of extinction. Male violence is the core trauma inflicted on society which passes through women to their children in a never-ending cycle. It must stop it. Men must stop it. Women have tried and failed.

Thanks for writing this beautiful piece. I remember seeing her at the Sanctuary when you came to give a talk. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet her, she sounds like a wonderful human being. We live in such a twisted society - people like Meghan are forced to the margins and big decisions are made by the most evil and corrupt among us.

Chris, so sorry for your (hopefully temporary) loss, and for ours. While the odds are long, hoping against hope.

To take such a tragedy, and try to turn it in to a teachable moment, would never occur to me. It's just reason why I've read, and continue to read, everything you publish.

Such a loving tribute to a one in a million unique teacher and undeniably deep spirited soul. Thank you Chris for sharing your friendship and inner thoughts about her and her special gifted life as well as her gift to all the students she touched.

I am very saddened that she is missing and going to visit her brother's site now.
