While I agree with Chris on most things, the extreme alarmism on the climate issue is not one of them. Scientists and their models have been disastrously wrong before . . . . Ferguson's (from the Imperial College of London) model early on in Covid springs to mind, which was off by a factor of 12 (going from memory). Keep in mind that in the 1970s, we were being "alarmed" about global cooling and an impending ice age (I can still hear Leonard Nimoy's voice). As I understand it, even if we do fulfill the Paris accords, which will cost trillions, it will reduce global temperatures by a mere 0.05 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century. It is alarmism of global warming that is being used by gov-corp to issue draconian measures against fertilizer that will most likely put many farmers out of business, and dispossess them of their land, much to the delight of the oligarchs who are just waiting to pounce. I fear climate alarmism is another tool in the toolbox of the elite to dispossess the masses of what little they have left and keep developing countries from developing. We will be living in an authoritarian plutocracy. And then there is the simplistic idea that stopping eating meat will make a massive difference, when White and Hall (2017) concluded it would reduce emissions by 2.6% max while causing considerable nutritional deficiencies. We do need to clean up our act--pollution is horrendous, but we need to be responsible and have open dialog about it; otherwise, the cure could very well be worse than the disease for the average person. “First, we need to evaluate climate policy in the same way that we evaluate every other policy: in terms of costs and benefits.” Bjorn Lomborg, author of "False Alarm: How Climate Change Panic Costs Us Trillions, Hurts the Poor and Fails to Fix the Planet". If we were serious about it, we might consider nuclear power, which is safe and incredibly clean and up to the task in terms of capacity. . . yet so many countries are decommissioning them. Why? The oligarchs and their corporations (who got us into this mess in the first place) stand to make millions on solar and wind turbines, which themselves have considerable environmental impact in terms of horrific strip mining of lithium and cobalt and the killing of birds and other wildlife, not to mention the eternal question of what to do with them when they wear out. Carbon tax and massive investment in green R&D are both smart approaches. We need innovation. Lomborg's book is well worth a read . . . and he is not a climate change denier.

I would rather be over alarmed than under alarmed. I would rather do lots and say well we didn't need to do all that, instead of if we had only done more. I would much rather say Chris was such an alarmist vs Chris tried to warn us and we didn't listen.

In my opinion, the opportunity presented by renewable energy will create new oligarchs, but for now, the barons of the fossil industry and other industries depending on it, are the ones that are opposing the needed changes to avert the pending collapse. Everybody will have to sacrifice and change their energy consumption habits, but this is better than what science has been warning us for a long time. Also, I believe the reason why nuclear power is being dismantled is because the handling of nuclear waste presents great risks now and for the future. Of course, scientist don't always agree in their predictions but I don't need any crystal ball when I check my AC billing .

The only thing that is going to make Americans listen is when NFL games are postponed because of climate issues.

This article is right on. Billions are being spent to keep the public from being aware. Extinction Rebellion is an excellent organization. 350 et. al. allow people to vent frustration but have little (or no) impact on the decision making process.

We need to confront the problem of public confusion about this issue at its roots. Probably half of the public has been convinced that there is not a problem, or at least on a serious one. The PR industry has been able to create massive confusion in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence.

Right now, when things reaching the critical stage, we are fighting each other over the wedge issues. Wedge issues are often important in their own right, but pale in importance compared to planetary extinction. This has been a "perfect" time to reverse Roe V Wade to create a public emotional storm that is eclipsing climate change and our new thrust toward nuclear holocaust.

The public needs to become aware of the power of the public relations industry and how it creates a false view of our world and how it operates.

We are fighting it out with each other on the deck of the Titanic rather than avoiding the iceberg.

As I look around I see people playing fiddles while the planet is burning and turning into a place uninhabitable by humans, wildlife and forests. Our oceans are in extra peril too. This back and forth crap by humans that seem to have to turn reality into a freaking debate or a sporting event is definitely skewed if not magical thinking. When I look at my 4yr old great granddaughter my heart breaks to think of the world we’re leaving for her. I have seen a shift in peoples attitudes towards “as long as I get mine, screw everyone else” that’s the same as the oligarchs and fossil fuel barons. Unfortunately too many people look at these morally bankrupt people and worship them and their wealth. They aren’t special or better than anyone else. They just have means and are using that means irresponsibly. They are not to be looked up to but to be seen for the threat they really are. They have lied cheated and even inadvertently murdered to get and keep their status. It’s hard to come to the realization that these people will destroy everything as long as they get theirs first. Unfortunately they’re still running the show and won’t give up power, in fact it looks like autocracy is taking over globally. I wonder if they are just keeping us around for when their food supply is depleted.

And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which has power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory

There's no denying there are good and evil depictions and scenes in the Book. People doing evil things and good things.

In the Old Testament God creates good and evil, makes war and peace.

The God and Father of Jesus the Christ of the New Testament is all Good, a Peacemaker, Healer and Forgiver of the Sins of the People, the guide to Peace, Love, Security and Freedom from Want.

You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

This people draws close to me with their mouth, and honours me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

According to the Book, at the end of it all, it will have nothing to do with Religion, Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, or for devout Atheists.

This will be the Standard: Then shall the King say to them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

For I was an hungry, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in:

Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink?

When did we see you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you?

Or when did we see you sick, or in prison, and came to you?

And the King shall answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it to me.
