Another Masterpiece of journalism by the great Chris Hedges. BRAVO and Thank you. Respect 👌👏👏👏🎩

The narrator is as good as any I've ever heard. Still, I wish these were in print, and unless I'm more Internet incompetent than I suspect, they're not. As easy as the narrator is to listen to, I could have read the article much more quickly.

If you go to his substack page yu can view print version.

I thought that was what was sent out, but my boneheadeness with the Internet is exactly what anyone who knows me would expect of me. Thanks, Charlotte.

It is not easy to find and not obvious. I never did find it.

First I am the worst person possible to help anyone with online content, but when I go to my profile and list of substack accounts, and I go to Hedges main page, I can get both the written form and the "read it to me" form. Hopefully someone else will come along who can explain better how to get to the article text. I just know it is out there ;-)

And must add you're not living up to your nom de Substack. And I'm grateful for it.

There's a button top right of the player that reads "1x." Click it, and you can listen 1.5 or 2 as fast. Peace

I absolutely agree! Though I love Chris Hedges, I am much more inclined to share articles in New Progressive Alliance media outlets than narrations.

I hear you. I'm thankful for the podcast versions because my schedule isn't always suited for reading. I enjoy Wong's readings. Her voice lends other dimensions. Peace, tk

Edward Bernays would be so proud of the legacy he established 100 yrs ago. The corporatocracy that controls the algorithms decides what filters will be applied, what we'll be allowed to see and share.

I have deleted my Youtube and Facebook accounts a month ago. Does this mean I censored these two arms of the US military? I certainly hope so.

Censorship has been normalized in our current cancel culture. People, in their apathetic normalization of the status quo, also known as normalcy bias, often fail to see the looming threat to our democracy censorship presents. Chris Hedges is trying to wake up America and all parts of the West where democracy is under siege by the state supported program of censorship. As always, Hedges pulls no punches and rattles the cages of those who are attacking democracy and those who fail to see the dangers inherent in this attack. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude for speaking out against the powers that be in a McCarthyan time in our history where honesty and integrity in journalism puts you at risk for being tarred and feathered. Thank you, Chris. You are a hero!

What a blessing to have Chris's words read by Eunice Wong. It's hard to imagine a better example of two people building integrity together and holding space until more people finally come to their senses and jump aboard.

What's so obvious is that legacy media, mainstream media and social media, aren't simply going along to get along with the oligarchs. They don't merely agree with the ruling elite, they are now part and parcel of the power structure. They are an integral part of the system through which the elite exert control. Scary.

Here's the article: https://chrishedges.substack.com/p/american-commissars?s=r. What core truth here. Gets my blood boiling. Got to do something. Chris, start an ad hoc Wisdom Council. Say you pick Oprah, the two of you pick the third, and so on. Get wise, powerful people thinking together about what you would do if you ran the world and everyone would listen!

Another brilliant article! A couple of thoughts: It was hard to tell when Chris was talking about the ex-military man (he talked about being a CIA-trained person?) and when he was talking about his own ideas. I had to listen twice while I prepared dinner and I was still a bit confused. Also, does Chris believe at all in the notion of hate speech? It sort of sounds like he is advocating for an anything goes marketplace of ideas and platforms for even the most vile and repugnant ideas yet, I know that Chris is not a hateful, bigoted person. I’m confused as to what Chris thinks a group such as the FCC or any other group, government or private sector, should or should not do about verbal attacks on certain ethnic groups which coincides with actual, physical attacks. The El Paso Walmart shooter and the New Zealand killer are two examples of heated rhetoric inciting and exciting two young men to murderous action. Based upon both of their manifestos, so I’ve heard, without various prominent public figures verbally targeting Hispanic immigrants in the El Paso case, and Muslims in the New Zealand case, coupled with access to firearms and ammunition, those two mass shootings would likely not have occurred or, at least not then, nor on such a huge scale. I am not a censorship advocate. Nor am I saying that any particular person other than the shooters themselves are responsible for the massacres. I guess I’m wondering if Chris would draw the line against hate speech, for lack of a better term, anywhere?
