I'm at the point where humans cannot go extinct fast enough. If in this day and age, we have not learned how to get along, there is no point in furthering this failed homo sapien experiment. I will never forgive the country of my birth for all of its endless exporting of violent destruction since its inception. Nor will I forgive all the violent destruction it has done internally to its less fortunate citizens either. There is nothing worthy of the USA as it drives us all to death and destruction at its bloody hands. Now Biden is going to make the Palestinians walk the plank along with his Israeli monster friends.

I am saddened by your view. It has long been said that where there is life, there is hope. What is happening today in Gaza is not unique to the human experience. What is unique is your response to it.

The bigger question is, will Israel survive its own moral collapse. There are many today (John Mearsheimer & the Foreign Policy Realists, Jeffery Sachs), who are predicting that Israel will collapse, not because it is defeated militarily, but rather because the world sees it for what it is.

The question is what will replace it? The best solution is a "One State" solution, although it is going to be very difficult for the Zionists and Palestinians to live together

Expand full comment

The truth is Palestinians are good people, they have no problem living with the Zionists. It is the Zionists that are greedy and humanless. They are the one that want to wipe out the Palestinians from back in 1917 (as per the historian Ilan Pappe - the Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.) already. The land belongs to Palestinians. There is no israel, there is only Palestine.

The world sees "Israel for what it is." Now that is total histrionic and self affirming nonsense. Oh sure, South Africa can lead us all to a new future but don't acknowledge the Zulu expansion and its warrior tradition. Certainly, Africa is filled with "sun people" but ignore the Bantu expansion. Genetic inquiry supports that this was replacement and not happy integration.

I wish it were as simple as "getting along." What we have here is a system that is both the product human being's most base, ego-centered instincts and one that incholcates this pathology of disconnection from life in all of us. The game is a profitable one for those who have certain benefits to begin with and can't imagine anything better. But it's become a zero sum game that more of us are losing. That being a part of the power dynamics requires what amounts to sociopathy or psychopathy has not been a hindrance for the system. But Palestinians are one of a number of examples of people who never had a problem getting along. They have simply been the oppressed, grisly, tortured pawns of this machine that - as you express - is monstrous and has made human beings a disease that the planet needs to shake off.

Let me help: when homo sapiens first came into being, we didn't have thick fur, sharp teeth in powerful jaws, speed, wings--zilch. It's about survival. And survival meant resources. Now it means having the most resources. Or all the resources. But that amygdala still dictates our basic (base) need of survival. There are other ways, but some people can't give up being ruled by their hidden (from them) emotions.

Yes, I'm sorry. And these other ways? Nobody is taking them, or talking about them.

We've just passed another anniversary of the killing of Rachel Corrie in 2003. She was a 23 year old, American, peace activist who was crushed to death by an Israeli bulldozer while she was trying to defend a Palestinian home from demolition. This despicable act tells you something fundamental about the state of Israel: it is utterly inhumane and brutal. In the light of this fact, Biden's behavior when dealing with the current crisis in Gaza is incomprehensible.

Expand full comment

This despicable act against Rachel also tells you just how much the US cares about its own citizens. Israel should have been condemned and all aid cut off, militarily and financially for outright murdering her. Same thing regarding the attack on the U.S.S. Liberty by Israel. The USA is just as brutal and inhumane as Israel, if not more so given the USA's history of violent destruction since its inception and founding on Native American genocide and African slavery. The USA and Israel are two pathological peas in a putrid pod.

Not at all. It is committed. In a zero-sum game, the most committed has a high probability of winning. Israel understand the Palestinian leadership only too well. The Palestinian leadership has been playing a zero-sum game for decades. The Israelis can too, only they are better at it.

Please. I'd hardly call being committed to genocide "winning"--except in a race to the bottom of humanity. What kind of blue ribbon strategy is that towards the sustainability of the human race?

It is Total War strategy. HAMAS pursues this strategy towards Israel and Israel plays it back. And as for winning, the Palestinian leadership has only achieved ethnic cleansing and disproportionate death for all of their decades of leadership. Yes, I'd say, Israel is winning.

It is a great tragedy that the Palestinian people must pay dearly for the strategic failures of their leaders.

Israel is a Zionist country, and the Jewish religion together with past persecution is worn as a badge of honor. All is justified because of past Jewish persecution. Christians who support Israel's behavior toward the Palestinians should be ashamed, and there are more of them that do so than Jews who support Israeli actions. This genocide has nothing to do with Jews and everything to do with the Zionist theft of Palestine that was done with the support of the Western nations. History will condemn all of us who are afraid to call Israel's war against Palestinians genocide and murder! Politicians cannot and will not solve this tragic crisis. They will continue to be owned and controlled by Apac and the power elites. The only way to stop the slaughter is to stop paying taxes, stop shopping, stop working, stop traveling, stop vacationing, and stop supporting churches and organizations that are not in the streets. These are the only things that giant corporations and corrupt governments are afraid of happening. It will require sacrifice, determination, perseverance and smart, caring organization of millions of people.

Thanks, Chris, as always. The horrid issues you tackle so well seem intractable. But history has shown that revolt and rebellion by only 5% of the population can bring down the autocrats and crush the corrupt corporations that rely on continuing the status quo economy, which is already weak and in danger of collapsing.

This revolution could result in health, happiness, and true prosperity for people and planet if local communities take charge of their fate instead of allowing billionaires to steal their future in order to become the first trillionaires! Neighbors could rejoice in helping each other instead of ignoring each other and expecting wealthy and powerful criminals to solve their problems, which of course will never happen.

As an American of Jewish ancestry, I have always thought that the "modern" Israel was a bad idea. Israel has shown bad faith since the 1967 accord. "Resolution 242 is one of the most widely affirmed resolutions on the Arab–Israeli conflict and formed the basis for later negotiations between the parties. These led to peace treaties between Israel and Egypt (1979) and Jordan (1994), as well as the 1993 and 1995 agreements with the Palestinians (Wikipedia)." Since the accords Israel has killed 10s of thousands of Palestinians, injured 10s of thousands more, and has taken away more land that was originally given to the Palestinians in 1948. This is apartheid and fascism. It makes me angry at the Zionists who drive this policy. They definitely do not represent my view of Judaism.

Trade land and housing for peace.

Stop asymmetrical warfare? How would symmetrical warfare be engaged in by the Palestinians? Should they engage all those imaginary warships and submarines they have floating and submerged in the Mediterranean? Maybe use those imaginary U.S. made fighter jets they have sitting on imaginary tarmacs in Gaza or the West Bank--- or , better yet, launched to patrol the skies over Israel? Or maybe use those imaginary U.S. Army M1A2 Abrams tanks they have scattered around their numerous military bases? Maybe you think they should build their own armaments like Israel (somewhat) does when they produce their Merkava tanks --always effectually used against defenseless woman and children. Bravo!; the bravery of being clear out of range of the middle finger. What would the possibility of symmetrical warfare look like when the IDF has long controlled everything that goes in and out of their occupied territory called Gaza--including baby chicks (which are banned by the IDF for fear that the Palestinians may pursue chicken farming to feed themselves)? Symmetrical warfare with the Palestinians....what a joke to suggest the possibility.

If all you have to use against a genocidal Goliath is a proverbial sling shot, then it's inevitable that you're going to use it. That was evidenced on Oct. 7, 2023...and the Israeli government is beside themselves as a result. How dare the Palestinians fight back with similar intent and far less means.

The Palestinian leadership have achieved none of their goals. The Palestinian people are ethnically cleansed and disproportionately killed.

Fight for what? Olive trees? HAMAS's strategy employees its citizenry as unarmed combatants. People on this thread are okay with that.

I think what people are okay with is the universal right to human dignity. To that point, "existing" is relative. To use (and modify) an old adage: Israel's right to swing its fists stops at the striking point of Palestinian noses.

As for your passive characterization for the request to "move on" : That illegal and bloody demand started long ago. It began, in earnest, as what is called the 1948 Nakba. That violent request by the Israel State became institutionalized with regard to the wholesale disenfranchisement of Palestinians in their own land ever since a system of repression and occupation was militarily imposed by the Israeli State. That system we call apartheid. All the hallmarks of such a politically repressive system have been evidenced from the Israeli State against the Palestinians...and more. In fact, they have tried to perfect apartheid to a level of instituting an occupied and walled city of 2.2M people which has been operating as an open air prison with walls and checkpoints for nearly 20 years. Apparently they thought this should go on indefinitely. However, like all illegal and repressive apartheid regimes, at some point the lid tends to blow from the pot of boiling water. That was evidenced on Oct. 7, 2023. This brings to mind another old adage: You reap what you sow.

Trogen horse. Perfect description. I had the same thoughts when I first heard about this proposal. It's not going to deliver aid, it's going to be used to permanently evacuate Palestinians. By creating an oppressive, apartheid, militaristic state dominated by vengeful religious fanatics who have terrorized and dehumanized their neighbours, Israel has become what it feared the most. Pure evil.

I honestly thought building that pier will only make the. Palestinians think they are getting aids but they are really facing more genocide by the zionist military.

Expand full comment

IMO it is too easy to place the blame for this genocide on the zionist state alone when it has devolved into genocide as a result of being england's then amerika's 'unsinkable aircraft carrier' in the heart of USuk's resource stealing territory. The ersatz state's proximity to those troublesome sand ni**ers has vastly increased zionist's false sense of superiority over "the Arabs" (yeah why not refer to a diverse group of ancient cultures & philosophies by the name of their common language, from now on all speakers of english across the world must be referred to by their language 'english' too. Now we are all english eh - yeech what an idea) .

The arrogance inherent in all settlers who invaded Palestine has increased over the decades as western nations ie amerika and its satraps, permitted more and more violent excess to be inflicted on Palestinians as the petrodollar became the world's single reserve currency.

In other words it is the greed of western capitalists that is actually the primary cause of this genocide, meaning that every time amerikan governments allow the zionists to increase the rate of innocent Palestinian deaths, they also provide positive reinforcement for even worse grosser and fouler crimes to be committed upon Palestine's indigenous population.

This is no unconscious act by amerika's officials; they know that if they were to institute any type of sanction on zionist criminality, the zionists' false sense of security would dissipate in an instant so the settlers will dig their second passports outta their bottom drawers and flee the scene of their crimes.

This cannot be tolerated. As amerika's control of its empire is slipping away, amerika becomes more reliant on that unsinkable aircraft carrier to keep amerika's iron grip on the ME's corrupt tyrants for as long as possible.

Genocide joe isn't merely 'holding the line' on amerikan support of zionism, every instance of his administration turning a blind eye to these crimes is an invitation to the settlers to increase their rate of killing with ever more cruel and deceit-ridden excess.
