The cutrate desperation may not be not attractive, but I'd pet the adorable faux reindeer any day, anyway. Already a paid sub, but always ready to support both your excellent work much as I'm able. Merry (musical) Christmas.

Don't blame Chris for the shortcomings of Substack. He's happy you are here.

I nominate this as a fitting update to Emma Goldman’s rule: “I don’t want to be a part of any revolution that doesn’t have dancing”

I don’t want to be a participant in any social movement that doesn’t have imitation rescue Reindeer.

To the truly great cartoonist who, with his friend the truly great journalist, made me laugh today, I wish you both the Merriest of holidays from the bottom of my heart. See you on the other side of Midnight.

Thank you both (I love what illustrator Fish produces for your hard-hitting columns) for supporting what’s left of the human conscience.

Chris and Mr. Fish have been doing this for at least three years now, and each time is just as hilarious as the last!

After a terrible Monday (Khaled Nabhann) and Tuesday (Kamal Adwan ICU), this was a relief. Thanks, Chris.

Here's my question: how TF do we alter the voting system at the UN security council? And what are the chances of someone pulling a "kidnap Paul Rusesabagina mid-flight" event on Satanyahu?

Ok, the second question was wishful thinking. The first question is genuine.

Love it! Thanks for giving us a breather, Chris and Mr. Fish. Great well trained reindeer too!

Needed that video today, great to see some levity. Can I make a suggestion? The other channel I have paid subscription to simply suggests to viewers that if they've enjoyed the content to consider throwing a buck a show at it. It was great to see the last show hit c.225k, even if only x % think "yeah, I'll pay a buck for that" then it will enable a funding stream that regular subscription misses out on (spontaneous gratitude). I would get someone else to just briefly do the ask early on so that viewers still feel Chris is primarily associated with the content (this sketch was of course a welcome exception). Thank you for the journalism, appreciated.

Sorry-- the reindeer theme has brought on a geopolitical and historical digression. I can't help myself after reading how the Sami and dozens of other indigenous groups were recently outlawed in Russia.

My reindeer-herding Sami ancestors were pretty anarcho-syndicalist so they'd probably approve Mr. Hedges' and Mr. Fish's fundraising even if they wouldn't get the association between reindeer and a commercialized holiday. So maybe next year you guys can take the next step and invite Sofia Jannok and friends to symbolically take Sami culture back from Santa bs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTL87q6O6Kw

Adding some joiks to your jokes (haha- groan) could draw a few folks to the wintery woods. That is, if you don't mind some surveillance drones in the bargain in case the incoming administration borrows the Russian characterization of Sami if just to keep pesky foreign indigenous groups from attending any more international tribal summits in the US.

I had to look up the history of Sami being cast as as terrorists in Russia and apparently it evokes Stalin's sudden shift from supporting indigenous cultural sovereignty to ethnic cleansing related to the Great Terror. file:///C:/Users/adria/Downloads/JNS_2_2012_kola-sami-in-the-stalinist-terror.pdf It seems modern indigenous persecution in Russia may be motivated by a similar agenda to repression of indigenous eco-activism in the US and other regions of the world-- namely Sami resistance to lithium mining in the Murmansk region.

So, yeah, reindeer. End of tangent. Keep up the great work and buore ođđa jahki!
