Happy Thursday Sir,

Wow, so they finally let you back on mainstream media again.

Isn't this where you said "if we had a functioning public broadcasting system would be on probably late at night?"

You sir are destined to make C-SPAN a functioning public broadcasting system again.

LOL

Hopefully they'll keep you coming back for more insights since you write a lot.

Seriously though, kudos to you sir and congrats on returning to the airwaves where you belong.

Happy New Year!

I don't want to be incarcerated - but I sure would love to take a class from Chris Hedges! I always learn something when I read and listen to him. How can we get more college programs into prisons? Out of 100 plus of your students finishing their BA with a recidivism rate of 1% is astonishing evidence of the values of education for the inmates and the citizenry. What are the groups/entities who are the biggest obstacles to a major infusion of literacy, GED, and college programs in prison? And who/what are the toughest entities against opening up job and housing opportunities for ex convicts? Wherever the Whole Foods is that Kabir was fired from ought to be targeted by substantial customer protest. He proved himself and then because of the cold inflexible mentality of the store manager he got fired because his prison record showed up in a report and apparently the "un" wholeness of (un)Whole Foods has a rule against ex prisoners working for them. That's gotta change.

Hi Chris,

Looking forward to your appearance on CSPAN Sunday. I'm an outlier Lutheran minister who never the less will be unable to tune in much before 1230 EST as I will be wrapping up my Sunday worship commitments. I want to make sure that I get a chance hear any observations that you might have with regard to the following:

You have written and spoken a great deal about the rise of Christo-fascism and its unholy union with the most extreme and reactive elements within society, but I wonder if you might comment on the role or lack thereof of the so called progressive expressions within the Christian church today? To what extent has itself become captive to the left wing establishment and the democratic party to the point that it has become altogether untethered from the Prophetic tradition and the teachings of Jesus especially as articulated in the gospel renderings of Luke and in Matthew particularly in the Sermon on the Mount? And then how might the church regain or perhaps discover its true voice in speaking truth to power..

Thanks for your great work

In solidarity,

Brian Peterson

Hey get this. I started making comments on utube / never have done that before. Just comments of truth and for peace. After one week this happened. If I make a comment now it won’t post it now. I can like something but not post. Also my app radio stopped all stations playing except BBC. This shows me it is not China or Russia stopping me / it’s USA & utube. Never did a swear or hate ting , just peace & truth. Very odd & fascist behaviour. It’s like what Elon revealed about twitter

What does one do?

--- Toxic spirituality is in part the antecedent of widespread social & cultural unrest.

--- Where are our contemporary prosocial spiritual "heuristics" coming from:

YouTube?

Antiquated dogma?

Fallible teachers and or parents – who are plausibly inclined towards bias and or fallacy?

--- In solution, replace β€œfault finding” with compassionate responsibility & restoration (restorative justice, instead of eternal punitive damnation). "Fault finding" damages the ego. Responsible compassion, instead fosters understanding and provisions restoration of wrongdoing and restoration of β€œself” (ego) in both the complainant and the defendant.

With ALL religious connotations aside the following should model a "prime directive" of prosocial & spiritual "heuristics":

- Right understanding

- Right thought

- Right speech

- Right action

- Right livelihood

- Right effort

- Right mindfulness

- Right concentration

+1 Chris Hedges!

Hello, Chris- We live in France (left when the US attacked Iraq 2003); we're also in touch with Mr. Fish and we're reading War is the Greatest Evil (one of so many Hedges books in our library!)

But we have no idea HOW to call in to the show. We've put ourselves on an alert list, but we doubt

that will do much. We DO have a question for you, just have no idea how to proceed. But we'll keep researching.

Many many thanks for your continuing work and efforts.

Em and Josh

Chris,

Enjoyed your appearance on C-Span. Some pushback regarding "suicide":

-As I recall, "Bowling Alone" was criticized when it was published for presenting an inaccurate picture of American socializing. While it's true that people aren't joining bowling leagues like they used to, bookclub membership has skyrocketed. So people still like socializing with other people.

-Some people who don't have "social bonds" (work, family, friends, community, etc.) commit suicide, but many, many people with a spouse, children, and a job also commit suicide, as we have seen in a high-profile instance (Twitch) recently. I don't have statistics on whether the former or the latter has the greater number of suicides but it seems to me that the presence/absence of "social bonds" may not be sufficient as an explanation for the majority(?) of incidents.

I have read or bought ALL of your books. You have taught me so much which I do share with any and everyone at any appropriate opportunity. You help me make sense of the world. I am a cradle Catholic a follower of Dorothy Day and my favorite story is your retelling of your friendship with the Berrigan Brothers. I am d enough to remember them. I love hearing it again and again!❀️
