This is the coldest, hardest truth about the US's role in our times that one can hope to grasp. May this lesson be spread to all the countries around the world where the US is trying to undermine various efforts by political movements to free themselves of US control. True patriots and proud citizens in those countries need to know that the US is out either to bribe you or, if that fails, kill you politically or physically.

Thank you Chris and Matt Kennard for this excellent dialog between two such seasoned investigative journalists so dedicated to exposing, speaking, writing and teaching all of us the hard won truths behind the adamantly destructive global US forces that have been operating for this past century at least. It takes great strength, courage and devotion to do the work you both are committed to doing in tracking and exposing the path of such utter cruelty and the sacrificing of millions by such inhuman structures of power and greed that uses and perhaps even creates humans who no longer have even a shred of remorse.

So much is coming into the light in these times, through the worldwide internet, yes very much, but especially through the concomitant resistance, the unimaginable suffering, fortitude, sacrifice and martyrdom of the people of Gaza/Palestine for all to see these past fourteen months. Its been unbearably painful for all good people around the world to witness without the power to stop it. As well as Lebanon, Syria, Ukraine and countless other peoples. Our world has been forever changed over these months and through work such as yours and increasingly of so many others speaking out, "the strongest and most lethal military in the world," ultimately must fall, has already begun that fall. Thank you both so much for caring and for shining your lights.

I think most people who are aware of history and are into politics, and don't rely on the mainstream media as a source of information are very aware of what was discussed today, as well as our many coups and massacres in South America, and elsewhere, and our propensity for political interference to benefit our own agenda. I'm also aware of how my country has exploited, and sometimes brutally, it's own people from the very beginning as well as their many successes in ridding America of it's indigenous people. However the genocide being implemented in Gaza that I tune into everyday on Aljazeera, is almost unbearable to watch, but I watch the slaughter everyday, and know how brutal, how sick, how blood thirsty the US and Israel are. There seems to be no threshold for how low the US is willing to go, and Israel has been on that same page for a long time in it's many assaults on the Palestinian people, as well as laying the groundwork for our Middle Eastern wars in this 21st century.

That was outstanding, Chris. I would love to get a copy of *The Racket* by Matt Kennard. It’s an honor to support your work. If there were more individuals like you in the world, it would undoubtedly be a better place.

Thanks for this interview and the voluminous notes, it like a thesis. I got the book. Bolivia (the most successful, sustained experiment in democratic socialism in history), Chiapas etc are bright lights for the future.

I disagree with one thing in Chris's intro: companies are not exploiting the labor and resources of other countries to give us cheap products.

They are doing it to pad their pockets.

When a company like Nike in my home state moves their factories from the US to Vietnam that pays a dollar a day, they don't pass those savings on to the consumer--they pass them on to shareholders as profits and execs as salaries.

what an informative fireworks of facts! thank you both, chris hedges, matt kennard!

i was reminded of so many instances of US power mongering, certainly not starting with but viciously on display in connection with patrice lumumba in the congo, for instance. the hypocrisy regarding many decades of US interference not only in haiti is beyond belief.

anthony loewenstein's 'disaster capitalism', published the same year as 'the racket', is extremely revealing as well.

wasn't it noam chomsky who said that the US republican party is the biggest terror organization on earth? by now, the democrats don't seem to be far behind.

matt said the UK might be called the 51st US state. i feel the same about my EU country, home to the biggest US military base outside the US ... with no intention of any of my country's f.lawmakers to change that. we rather continue to violate our own constitution and int'l law by - among other things - helping deadly US drones reach their destinations in faraway muslim lands.

hoping you'll be able to continue your investigative work in the [four] years to come!
