It’s overwhelming to think of all the things that need to be changed, so I’m trying to focus on one or two. I didn’t really choose the Gaza genocide as a priority, it chose me. I’ll work on getting U.S. candidates elected who will cut off funds to Israel and who are committed to stopping the war on Iran. I keep coming back to what happened with respect to Viet Nam. Congress’ finally cutting off the funding is what stopped that war. I contributed a modest donation to Dr. Hamawy’s successful campaign and will continue to contribute modestly to others. Meanwhile, there are those who are trying to reverse the impact of Citizens United through the courts. (There’s a case pending in the First Circuit, for example). Others need to mount efforts to overturn Buckley v. Valeo (money is speech, on which CU relied) so we can end the pernicious impact of billionaires and corporations on the planet. Getting the big money out of politics is central to everything else — war, and it’s impact, not only directly on certain populations, but on the environment, for example. But we all have to get busy. Maybe action, like inaction, is contagious.

I remember a long ago interview of Ralph Nader in which he was asked how he could keep working so hard to change things for the better. His answer: how can we not?

Thank you for the interview with Dr. Hamawy, and all your other important contributions. I hope you, Chris, and your coworkers will continue to be strong. Your voice coming out of the USA, is indispensable, giving so many people hope. I am one of your greatful readers in Norway.
