It's hard to, after Chomsky on propaganda, Greenwald on surveillance, Taibbi on institutional capture, Scheer on empire—and your own work documenting the moral consequences. We've seen these cycles before: Nixon, COINTELPRO, the Patriot Act, Obama, Trump. The names change. The machinery adapts.
After decades of increasingly accurate warnings, we're still mostly predicting the rain. We understand the architecture of censorship better than ever, yet we've built remarkably little that raises its political cost, regardless of who holds power.
Chris... if journalism's role is to expose, who is designing the civic mechanisms that make censorship progressively harder? If they don't exist, shouldn't building them become as urgent as documenting their absence?
Patrick Byrne's book The Deep Rig did lay out a startling set of information, pointing to manipulation of the 2020 election-- at the top of the electronic counting system. :Like Byrne, I have never voted for Mr Trump, but nonetheless a harrowing account.
