Good news out of New Jersey tonight. Dr. Adam Hamawy, an Egyptian-American physician who campaigned against support for Israel, calls the Israel-U.S. atrocities in Gaza a genocide, participated in a humanitarian outreach to a hospital in Gaza in 2024, served in the U.S. army as a combat physician, and decided to run for Congress as a result of the indifference he encountered when he attempted to share his experiences and observations in Gaza with Congressional members, just won the Democratic primary for a House seat. He won despite an editorial the NYT ran about him a couple of days before the primary focusing on allegations that he had supported a terrorist decades before, Islamaphobic remarks about him by public officials, and the strong opposition of the New Jersey Democratic machine and the national Democratic Party. In addition to opposing continuing support for Israel, he ran on Medicare for All and abolishing ICE.

Couldn't agree more with your last sentence. If there were some way to have the American Empire expire without killing any of the planet's innocents..........I'd be all for it.

Your wars of aggression have blighted all my days, since I studied in your country as a young woman during the Vietnam war.

Posting the same comment 4 times makes me wonder if something stalled in your AI apparatus..........can't disagree with much of what you say, but it is rather telling that the supposedly richest, most powerful nation on earth is so helpless it has to wait for the rest of the world to wake up........

Sounds almost as if you're prone to believing that the military industrial complex of America is somehow incapable of doing anything to change course without help from the allies she shows contempt for.

Must be awful to wake up and realize what a loser your country has always been........inspite iof all the regime change, covert CIA operations and other crooked interferences in other people's countries. I too am wondering if its possible for America to survive without ginning for constant war, and getting in bed with genocidal regimes to destroy some imagined evil on the other side of the earth.

US armaments manufacturing is hitting new heights!

The 1% are making a literal killing!

War is America's largest export. Both parties want the US tax dollar windfall to continue.

Billionaires & US politicians make huge profits. Non-stop forever war is how they all get richer.

Amen. Beautiful narration by Eunice, as usual.

I recently read that Vietnam's farmers are facing a food disaster because of shortages of fuel to run their farm equipment and lack of fertilizer shipments. As you mentioned the textile and garment industries are also suffering in Asia. Air travel is also being hampered. This is just a sampling of the worldwide fallout likely from our country's reckless policies. It is careening to get much worse, and quickly. Surely many are already facing starvation and unprecedented survival problems. I feel like we are approaching a point of no return as we degrade our mothership, the earth.

Opposing expenditures for idiotic military action at the expense of living conditions here has to be at the center of how we vote and conduct ourselves. Ensuring that everyone is registered to vote and mobilizing voters is essential. It may the best tool at hand to stave off immediate disasters. Voting is not enough, but it would be foolish not to use it. If we have direct face to face encounters and are honest with people, it can help people turn fear into understanding and action by placing the fault where it lies.

I do believe that there is goodness and sense among our people that can / must be turned into organization and power. Politicians should know that a vote for funding Israel and other demented escapades means a big NO on election day. Others may have the money, but we represent the vast majority of the people.

You are correct; the environment urgently needs our attention. As for the economy. We are at the ENVIRONMENTAL LIMITS of mass lateral economic expansion. Which means that the aggregate incomes of Americans in the street is the TRUE MEASURE of Americas wealth. With regard to the stock market; this is a SCAM run by your billionaires who have bid each other up so inflating particularly the value of your technology stocks; into FAIRY LAND

"the aggregate incomes of Americans in the street is the TRUE MEASURE of Americas wealth."

Do you mean Wallstreet? I believe the true measure of Americas wealth is the level of health care, housing, higher education etc. which by now is more a measure of our lack of wealth.

Good news out of New Jersey tonight. Dr. Adam Hamawy, who ran a campaign based on opposition to support for Israel, Medicare for All, and abolishing ICE, just won his race for the House in a highly competitive Democratic primary. Dr. Hamawy, a U.S. Army surgeon who went to Gaza on a humanitarian mission to a hospital in 2024 and calls the genocide in Gaza a genocide, said he decided to run for Congress when upon his return from Gaza, he was met with indifference on Capitol Hill where he went to share his experiences and observations in Gaza with members of Congress. Dr. Hamawy won despite being opposed by the NJ Democratic machine, the national Democratic Party, and the fact that he was the target of Islamophobic rhetoric and a NYT editorial published two days before the primary raising allegations about his ties to a convicted terrorist decades before.

Potent summary of folly and its consequences. I only wish we got more of this in the MSM.

Even more tragic in this horrible tragedy is that the world has not found a way to stop this 21st century killing machine: U.S. & Israel partnership.

Every time Trump suffers a defeat; he proposes something even more absurd to draw attention away from his failures. As for just who is responsible for the Iran stuff-up? Netanyahu may have misled Trump; yet his own military advisor's told him DON'T GO THERE. He was thus advised by both sides of the argument; which makes Trump alone responsible for this mess.

As for Invading Canada; he must be dreaming. He could not even defeat Iran let alone a neighbour whose whole population HATES HIS GUTS & will fight America for decades.

There are other primaries around the country in which candidates are running on similar platforms. Obviously, voting is not the only or even the primary way we turn things around, but it’s the most expedient way we have of stopping U.S.-sponsored atrocities in the Middle East. No time to give up.

Given Israel’s dominance in deciding how aggressive the US is in its military adventurism I sense the U.S. under Trump is developing its very own Samson Doctrine against Iran.

And, as you intimate, this really would involve all of us.

For his whole life, Trump has screwed up everything he has touched and now it's our turn. Just look at his history, projecting where we are, where we will be. All is lies, bankruptcies, pedophilia, mafioso advisor(s) Roy Cohn, etc. Good luck compadres!
