According to international experts and U.N. special rapporteurs, U.S. sanctions against both Iran and Cuba violate international law. That makes the U.S., like Israel, a rogue state. But we already knew that. And the U.S. government does not adhere to domestic law either. It’s as if, as a country, we’ve given up on law. Most mainstream media pundits rarely refer to domestic, much less international law. They’re an ignorant and complacent bunch, which is how they hold their jobs. John Adam’s said, “we’re a nation of laws, not men.” Since we’re clearly not, and the rest of the world is either unwilling or incapable of holding us and Israel (or anyone) accountable, what do we have instead? What’s to prevent things from continuing to spin out of control?

Of course the United States routinely tramples on international law, while at the same time howling like a spoiled toddler every time it sees its interests violated.

What does anyone propose to do about it?

I remember Watergate, when the Washington Post practiced something akin to journalism. Now they're simply rolling around in the sewer.

They know where power lies.

... and where it lies, they probably know, too, but don't [feel inclined to] do [much of] anything to change it ;-)

Of course the American position is unfair, unjust, sadistic, cruel for its own sake. The United States is the Evil Empire.

What does anyone propose to do about it? Moral arguments are wasted on sociopaths. They care about such things solely to the extent that they can be weaponized.

Power is the only response but legal power exercised justly. Apart from the global powers, the rest of the world can constitute the voice of reason for peace.

Law is meaningless. Enforcement is the only thing that matters.

Try quoting Bible verses to an armed robber.

Thank you a million times over to Media and all those who have worked to support Cuba and thank you Chris Hedges for being an amazing wonderful human being spreading truth AND love through words and action.

When ever I hear about our position on Cuba, which seems rife with negativity, it always feels like we never got over the Cuban Missile crisis which I think determines our mindset in regard to it. Oh, the Russians, communism was in our own backyard, Not to mention we've been in everyone's backyard through the decades and most often to their detriment.

Medea's observations were both heartbreaking and inspiring. How I hate the US bullies and their arrogance of power.

Thank you for this information about what is happening in Cuba, a country for which I have great compassion having written my dissertation about Cuban education under Batista and when Fidel gained literacy for the people.

I would like to donate to Cuba as it suffers under this president. How can I make a donation?

At over $200/- Brent barrel (JP Morgan and BOA) going into the mid terms a horse and buggy and bicycles in the USA are not far fetched and those trillions the standing ovation Congress has put into its floating coffins are ripe for conversion to affordable housing.

I heard that China just brought solar panels, and Russia is bringing oil to Cuba. It's disgusting that the USA is so afraid that the working people can't be allowed to be successful. Isn't money the root of evil? So sad. I would love to go to Cuba.

Hedges could not make a patch on Medea Benjamin's backside ...

Trump may have no soul, but Mr Hedges demostrated an appalling lack of respect for his very loyal followers during the lockdowns ... Just 30 days after a court-ordered release of Phizer's own Vax trial data proved that the jab was actually killing people, Hedges said no problem ...

Read on ...

--------------

BACKGROUND

In 2022 Hedges actually said "the constitution remains a sacred document" AFTER he refused to stand with us against the illegal and unconstitutional mandates and passports.

1) But first, here's proof that COVID “vaccines” actually killed people …

https://www.medicine.news/2023-12-11-proof-covid-vaccines-have-killed-millions.html

2) Jimmy Dore interview, August 21, 2021 …

Not a word here from Hedges about the illegal and unconstitutional nature of the mandates, passports and the jab ... after preaching direct confrontation to tyranny for the past 20 years, watch him dance and listen to him equivocate before sheepishly blowing it off: “… that was just a decision that I made” ... yup NBD, right Chris?

3) Useful Idiots interview, September 21, 2021 …

“It’s a hard question I guess, do you force people to get the vaccine”

No Chris, it's not a hard question - not at all ...

4) DEC 2, 2021 FDA FOIA release ...

The explosive FDA FOIA release revealed that Phizer's Vx trial data documented 1,223 deaths and 25,000 medically verified injuries to trial participants in the first 90 days of their trial period.

https://www.medicine.news/2021-12-10-pfizer-vaccine-documents-42000-reactions-1223-deaths.html

5) Krystal, Kyle & Friends interview ...

This proved the Vx was not "safe and effective", but only 30 days later on the K&K podcast, he brazenly took sides when he knew better …

EP 54, Hedges said: "I don't think we can stop the pandemic and mutations until everyone gets vaccinated” without saying a word about the revelations of the FDA FOIA release – not a word!

So stop praising this guy, he doesn't give a hoot about us ... COVID scared the pants off him, so he tucked his tail between his legs and snuck out the back door on us.

He was just hoping nobody would notice.

Douglas could you make a patch on Medea Benjamin's backside, and if you could I hope you DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least 30 exclamation points to drive home your point ...

Did I anger you?

I followed Hedges as closely as anybody for the past two decades ...

He flipped on us with the lockdowns, and if you're inclined to defend him then I question much you really know about this man ...

Fran's avatar

No, you didn't anger me, but why hold on to that anger? Everyone took a position one way or the other. Fauci is someone I don't like,, and don't trust. My brother had AIDS and Fauci made the claim that children that are living in homes with people who had Aids can also get it, like it's easily transmitted. A goddamn lie! Maybe he wanted people to believe this was not just a disease of gays and drug users so people would be more empathetic and concerned about this disease. However by doing that he turned AIDS into a horror show, and people became terrified, and even hospital workers, nurses, doctors, kept their distance which means the overall care of AIDS patients was too often a horror show. I wasn't afraid to get it because I knew that to be a lie. During Covid my friend's mother was ushered out of her house and sent 2 hours away from her family, and whose daughter was a nurse living at home. She was put on a ventilator and no doubt like most developed secondary bacterial pneumonia. This pneumonia was responsible for a much higher mortality rate than the COVID-19 infection. Not to mention too few people knowledgeable about ventilators and their use operated them. We have a long history of this kind of crap. Read The Cry and the Covenant, which lets you really see how opportunistic and political even back then the medical profession could be.

Douglas Carlson's avatar

Hey Fran, let me lay it our for you plain and simple ...

-------------

1) The average trial period for any vaccine is 10 years.

2) But the COVID vax was "tested" for only one year.

3) And Moderna, Phizer and J&J were given legal immunity against liability.

4) Even though the mandates/passports were illegal and unconstitiutional

-------------

5) Hedges preached direct confrontation to tyranny for 20 years, but ...

6) On AUG 27, 2021, Hedges did an interview with Jimmy Dore and failed to acknowledge any of these indisputable facts. He expressed only general concerns about big pharma's role and refused to stand with us against COVID tyranny.

7) On AUG 21, 2021 he did an interview on USEFUL IDIOTS and again refused to acknowledge the risks and stand with us against the jab.

8) On DEC 2, 2021, the FDA was compelled by a court ruling to release Phizer's own trial data, which revealed 1,223 deaths and 25k medically-verified vax-related injuries in the fisrt 90 days of its trial. This was explosive news and proved that the vax was not safe and effective.

9) Amazingly, exactly 30 days later on JAN 1, 2022, Hedges did an interview with Krystal & Kyle in which he said "... evryone must get vaccinated", without a word about the FDA FOIA release ... so Hedges knew the dangers, but decided to throw us all under the bus, rather than stand with us against COVID tyranny.

All of my claims here are substantiated in the interview links above ...

So don't blame me ... those were Hedges own words I've cited, not mine

Hedges knew the vax was actually killing people, but he capitualted to big pharma, proving he doesn't give a hoot about us.

I've got more links ... all ya gotta do is ask!

Fran's avatar

Well, since you are a follower of Hedges you must know that too often he adopts a very apocalyptic perspective on things. Sometimes I feel I'm in church when I read some of his articles. I didn't agree with him, and so far only got one shot and that was after my friend's mother's death, because it really scared me and I didn't have the knowledge I now have. However he might have felt that there are many who will listen to him, and if he takes a middle of the road response he might get people killed. They scared you half to death with this stuff, which was true of AIDS as well. He was playing it safe, and probably felt better safe then sorry. Also, it became a political football, where Trump's position was the disease was overhyped while the democrats hyped it, and neither focused on the truth. Hedges has a profound hatred and mistrust of Trump and I think no doubt that is why he became such an adamant supporter of the democrats perspective on Covid, but in most ways he is very critical of them also.

Douglas Carlson's avatar

Hey Fran, Hedges threw us all under the bus, but being the very cynical man he is, he knew YOU would not mind.

For some reason the episodes are only dropping in the Apple Podcast days later.

It breaks my heart to see what is happening in Cuba. All those decades of resistance and still thriving in medicine and education, and now being squeezed so hard, a way out is far from sight.

The empire is a bully. Cuba is proof that communism CAN happen. Cuba only declared itself socialist in 1961, the blockade began in 1960. Had Cuba been allowed to just be, it is possible that the world would be different.

I am aware of the political problems, the "oppression" and all but having grown up under a military capitalist dictatorship, I am sure that, side by side, the issues were the same, or pretty close.

Communism gave Cuba the best that Cuba has: human resources, education, medicine. And a sense of solidarity like few other places. They are finding ways to help each other. They seem to value more what makes us more human, instead of consumerism and self-promotion. It is devastating to be unable to help.

Thanks both! I hope the optimism is effective.
