The war on Iran has not only ended in a humiliating defeat for the United States, but resulted in a dramatic shift in the balance of power in the Middle East and the Global South.
It's unfortunate that when speaking of what's going on in Iran it is rarely placed in context with our 21st century wars in the Middle East implemented by Bush/Cheney, Obama, and Biden as well as Trump. All these wars were done for the benefit of Israel. No doubt Iran was put on hold, and Obama implemented the Iran deal, but lets not forget that during his presidency the US destroyed Libya and brought an end to Muammar_Gaddafi's life who was sodomized by a sword. His death brought pleasure to Clinton when she said, "We came, we saw, he died." which was followed by Hillary's, ha, ha, ha, and sheer pleasure she had when hearing of his death. Of course under Obama and the CIA they tried to bring an end to the Assad regime by bolstering armed Syrian opposition forces against his regime, but all it did was to funnel weapons and funds into the hands of extremist groups, many with ties to al-Qaeda and other jihadist groups. Yes Trump further engaged Israel in it's desire to destroy Iran, really bad mistake no one else was willing to take on, and once again at Israel's bidding, but I think no one president should be singled out without referencing the totality of what we destroyed at Israel's bidding, and the hold this country has on American political thought through AIPAC which includes almost a quarter of a century of wars with little to no opposition from those we elect into office.
The good work done by your government, the disreputable 'school of the Americas', and rapacious corporations in Central and South America should not be forgotten either. The 80's were brutal years for the people of Nicaraugua, El Salvador, Guatemala, etc. etc. etc.
Americans have more blood on their hands than they realize. We can count on it though, the countries where right wing juntas were maintained by CIA incompetence haven't forgotten........unless of course, helped into oblivion by the usual death squads.
I know and now they're talking about revisiting Cuba, and already kicked out Maduro, and he wants Greenland. However, this Iran thing is a big scare. Lets see if they can give us a 60 day break, and yes we were all over South America and up to no good, and responsible for millions of deaths by the end of the century.
UN ‘adds Israel to blacklist’ for conflict-related sexual violence
Israeli ambassador to the UN says Tel Aviv will cut ties with UN chief Antonio Guterres over the upcoming report.
Israel is a goner, I mean how low do you go, and although they are contesting these allegations I've heard about their sexual violence for years and no doubt it's meant to be degrading and for some no doubt reflects their sexual deviance. I think Israel is a goner on a world wide level.
Either Israel falls or we all do...........as the Zionists go for broke a lot of people are waking up.............too late to do anything much, but awareness does matter.
It's a major cognitive dissonance for the people of the west. Turns out, once again, the majority were sucked in by mainstream propaganda into backing the wrong horse........ choosing complicity with genocide rather than the rules based order.
We'll have to stay turned to their attack on the UN to see how that pans out. There's a lot of disrespect for the UN coming out of Amerikkka these days........and as we read up on the history of Amerikkka's unreserved support of Israel, we can also discover who it was voted against good resolutions that a majority of countries supported.
One example: I had no idea the UN had tried to pass a resolution for the last 30 years....TO END THE ILLEGAL SANCTIONS ON CUBA....I learned that as a side tidbit of info while reading about the genocide....just shortly before I started to learn about how Ameikkka is sanctioning Albanese for standing against genocide.
Amerikkka and Israel blocked the vote to end Cuban sanctions........every damn time. I need to do more research to find out how many times my own craven nation abstained.
But deviance of the RULE BASED ORDER turns out to have been a longer game than most of us imagined.......thanks to our msm who chose silence over blowing any 'time out' whistles.
Russia relies on its claim of protecting the world from the evils of western Imperialism to justify every crime it has ever committed. Likewise; the west relies on its claim of protecting the world from the evils of communism to justify every crime it commits. The new internet era accords ordinary people with the means to talk directly to each other & so bringing an end to this BULLSHIT.
Let's hope........but jingoistic hate is an easy discharge system........understanding the propaganda that sets people against each other takes a literate ability to read, and draw independent, and obvious conclusions.
And regardless of Russian propaganda..........its still the American Empire that has done the massive majority of the damage.....from Vietnam to Iran.
I'm just currently finishing TAKEOVER...a 2006 publication that among other atrocities, tells the story of how America created the Taliban, to destroy the Russian occupation of Afghanistan.....they succeeded in destroying the Soviet Union with that unholy alliance with fundamentalist leaders in Pakistan......but it cost America dearly as well.............and now Iran is fighting back.
AIPAC? Little more than the attention-getting squirrel. Its contributions to political races of both damns and pukes pale in comparison to those of the Jewish Oligarchs who run our administrations.
I'm sure rich Jewish Oligarchs have a role in forwarding Israel's agenda, as do rich pro Israeli non-Jews, but AIPAC can never be defined as little more then an attention getting squirrel. Read Mearsheimer and Walt's book on the Israel lobby to see how much control they exert in our political system which has grown significantly since their book was published in 2007. Hopefully it will come to pass that many, perhaps most, and no doubt mostly democrats, will swear off AIPAC in their campaigns as a selling point. A country that implements a genocide, a country forewarned who ignored all the warning signs and allowed it to happen provided the excuse they needed to rid themselves of those animals as they like to call Palestinians. Not to mention all the wars fought on their behalf. Also remember Biden, a democrat was a sworn Zionist.
Just in case you never heard these words of wisdom.
Huckabee tells Lebanese being bombed to thank Israel for seedless watermelons
The US ambassador to Israel has previously said Israel has the right to take over ‘all' of the Middle East. God help us!
The connections between the American Empire and the little colonial state of Israel are so many, and so under the radar that in Canada branches have been able to claim charitable status while sending money, and naive Canadian boys to do time in the IDF. ALL UNDER THE RADAR....and vehemently defended by Jewish members of parliement and gentile members of parliament dependent on the Jewish vote in their riding.
A lot of what is coming out now, exists as a result of our ignorance........good intentions and 0 research into the real focus of charities we fund.
Did you hear about this? Sorry I didn't respond to a couple of your posts, out of it, and tired, so tired, because I'm still crazy enough to spend hours gardening then taking a ride to get more flowers, and planting, watering, fertilizing etc, etc.
The Brief
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he will not attend Sunday's Israel Day on Fifth parade, making him the first New York City mayor in more than 60 years to skip the event, and said he is honoring a campaign pledge while maintaining his criticism of the Israeli government.
Despite not attending the parade, Mamdani said he remains responsible for the safety and security of all New Yorkers and will support city efforts to ensure the event is held safely.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who is serving as this year's grand marshal, said the NYPD will deploy the largest security operation in the parade's history, including increased counterterrorism resources, additional officers and extensive screening measures, although there are no known specific or credible threats.
Good for Mamdani. It's time more politicians faced the facts about genocide and stopped pretending it isn't happening, or one act of violence necessitates we remove an entire people.
The indifference of the west condemns us to the third generation.......if a damaged and rapaciously resourced earth can support life for that long.
The huge financial surplus generated by the oppressive relations of production in late capitalism are controlled by major banks, private equity, and big corporations. Hence the multi billion investments in AI, data centers, and corporate buyouts. Meanwhile the federal deficit and debt increase such that annual debt service exceeds $1 Trillion. Still the Iran war will be financed by federal borrowing. Can another Great Depression be far behind?
We've seen premature declarations of victory before. The United States and Israel will not hesitate to go nuclear if feel that is needed to destroy Iran.
Yes, millions around the world will suffernand die. However, Trump, Netanyahu and their cronies will not, so they could not care less.
I am not at all sure they would "go nuclear" to destroy Iran. Russia and China have better, faster nuclear missiles than we do, and more of them. What is missing in this woebegone administration is people who know how to do diplomacy.
When all you have is a logical fallacy........demonization of your enemies is just the ad hominem fallacy writ large........you likely don't have the working brain power to do diplomacy. Diplomacy supposes that ability to listen........and to remember anything you've heard, outside of the noises inside your own head.
I am not so sure anymore that the Russians want to join the West, but they certainly have no appetite to blow up the world ... (and as Karaganov said a tactical nuclear war can be won -if I am not mistaken- which definitely would mean that after a 'few nukes' it would be stopped ...)
I am not so sure that even an ultra-militarized and impulsive Israel would be the first to drop the bomb. They yap about their "Samson" option, but I don't think they will likely try it. They are a tiny state, and both of Iran's allies, Russia and China, would give them the means to destroy Israel, which they may well already have.
I think you're wrong there. A nuclear attack on Iran would destroy more than most imagine....not that they might not try it........having no imagination of their own to speak of.
Interesting that the sociopath known as Trump will do anything to distract from his true depravities. No fictitious villains compare to Trump and the needless death and destruction that continues as he leads his cadre of dictators and pedophiles. A good number of Americans choose ignorance and complacency. They are being led to the slaughter. I have no interest in being one of them.
"This may not be the end of the American Empire, but it is the beginning of the end."
To which we should say, "Amen."
“… I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today—my own government.” – Martin Luther King, Jr., “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence,” Riverside Church, New York City, April 4, 1967
"This is the culture in which we live. The world is ruled by force. The only way we can put a permanent end to terrorism is to stop participating in it." – Noam Chomsky, MIT News, Oct. 24, 2001, https://news.mit.edu/2001/chomsky-1024
Can't wait to see the demise of "Israel" and the US. Yes, I know the pain it will inflict on too many people. It already started. It will get worse. The poor will suffer more, they will get the worst of it. This is true for the poor inside the country and the poor countries in general.
But I think it needs to happen. The world needs a reset. Too many Palestinian lives lost to this hubris and greed, to this evil person who is Netanyahu, supported by this evil ideology, zionism, and for most people inside Israel. They need to feel a taste of what they want for the "arabs", as they call Palestinians
I hope Iran prevails. I hope Cuba can get a relief because this is all related.. A demented sociopath in the US enabling, or being manipulated by the worst evil I have seen in my life, zionism. The tail wagging the dog. Mad dog, madder tail.
I know the pain will be great. Personally speaking, I am probably going to be one of the first in this country to feel the pain, maybe lose the little I have. But I am here for it. If this is what it takes to try to reset the world, I will share the pain with those who are already experiencing it for years, decades.
This is sad, even humiliating for the US. I grew up in the fifties, coming of age in the mid-sixties. We had our unnecessary and immoral wars then. Vietnam comes to mind. But our politicians in both parties were a lot smarter than their counterparts today. Kissinger and Nixon went to China and Russia, negotiating detente and trade deals with those great powers. Today, our political class gets nowhere in international relations, personified by Trump's trip to China, which accomplished as little as the decorative state visit from King Charles here. Nothing on King Charles. He occupies a chiefly symbolic position. But what kinds of diplomatic deals have we cut with the UK. Not much. About as much as we have with Russia and China. The UK will be our ally for the foreseeable future. What we need is detente with Russia and China and solid trade deals. Our president, instead of pursuing these things, dreams of invading Cuba and, of all places, Greenland. These guys don't hold a candle to Nixon and Kissinger.
I'm afraid so. Trump does not know how to negotiate -- you have to be willing to give something valuable to your counterpart at the table. The US hasn't had a competent negotiator since Kissinger. And that was over fifty years ago. Instead of negotiating the US drops bombs, which does nothing but drive adversaries farther apart. What these would-be diplomats don't seem to understand is that fruitful negotiations always end in compromise.
They don't need to be competent, just as a schoolyard bully doesn't care about your witty repartee, as long as he can smash your face in whenever he feels like it.
Lets not forget Feral, Trump is doing what all the 21st presidents did before him, and that is, rid the world of what Netanyahu defined as terrorists states in order to create a greater Israel that rules the roost. We took them out, but Iran being in a position to inflict great harm other presidents put Iran aside until Trumper came along and did their bidding. The destruction of whole countries, and millions of lives dead, or personally destroyed, and one should not forget it wasn't one man, but many whose loyalty was, or should have been with the people of the US and not with Israel, but as you know they operate in this country as if they own it. To focus hate on one man distorts reality and makes change an impossibility. God, we even excepted their genocide and paid for it.
Not really, as they are timid. The dominant country is the one willing to "go there" If you've ever had a relationship with a psycho, you'll understand the dynamic.
To respond to what? US could not impose Trumps tarifs and they had to accept the fact that we all depend each other on our trade. If we are talking about this war, many comentators believe the greater accuracy (compared to last year's) of Iran's missiles that have devastated our military stations in the gulf is because Iran acquired an Earth observation satellite—the TEE-01B—built by the Chinese commercial firm Earth Eye. Through global ground stations, Iran can now task the satellite directly, receiving actionable imagery for reconnaissance and targeting and it uses China’s BeiDou satellite navigation network for its military infrastructure. This alternative to the U.S. GPS network offers encrypted, high-precision targeting and positioning signals designed to resist Western jamming
And if these are not enough of a respond, consider the severe warning that they sent to the White House: "Ting maring dey dos ping way, tin tiring matarang tin tiring fuei" which in good Mandarin means .... means... oops, I forgat the meaning. Sorry
It is remarkable that Trump still seems to think that he can DICTATE terms when he obviously cannot. Of note is the more he tries; the worse the situation gets.
On the matter of Americas decline. If is close on three centuries since your much vaunted Constitution was written. During that time the world has moved on & become a totally different place. While your Constitution remains rooted in the past addressing the challenges of its times. It has notably failed to protect the people in recent times & everybody is losing faith in it. To such an extent even your Supreme Court only occasionally upholds it. This secular document does not hold the omnipotence of the Bible so has clearly reached its USE-BY date. It needs substantial rewriting. This is something Trump is trying to do UNILATERALLY by means of top-down imposition. Whilst for the people to retain control requires a populist BOTTOM-UP social revolution.
The framers of our constitution didn't address the problems of their time, only the desires of the super rich slave owners. I agree it is past time to write another constitution but please not with the bible in mind. America is multicultural and have many religions and most of us, religious or not, don't want to have the genesis as the guide for our sciences or history.
Some time ago, Thomas Karat interviewed Daniele Ganser, author of NATO's Secret Armies, Operation Gladio and Terrorism in Western Europe. Between 1940 and 2001 the author's well researched work documents the established stay-behind army Special Operations Executive (SOE).
Now, in the 21st Century, the partnership between the US & Israel have removed their masks for all to see - and they don't care.
Is the 21st Century SOE the Israeli Lobby? Or, are the one of the same?
They are the same. Our intelligence has always been inflitrated by Israel with the collaboration of the American Zionists which were also part of the CIA, and now, of our armed forces.
China is not exhibiting world leadership, but self-interest. It has the power to exert more pressure on the U.S. than Israel, even through diplomatic means, but it has elected not to do so.
I think that what China is exhibiting is cleverness. They are watching and waiting for the west to continue its own folly till the moment arrives they know is the time to become the leaders of the world.
I hope you’re right, Julio. I have been disappointed by China’s and Russia’s lack of, or at best, weak, support for Iran in the U.N., and also China’s reported assurances that it would not provide Iran with weapons after Trump’s visit. Other countries need to support Iran now. And they need to start pushing back hard on the U.S.’s Middle East policies and actions. A long game, if there is one, is something, but Iran’s ability to survive a long game is limited.
Nancy, diplomacy is a black box. We know both China and Russia have strategic alliances with Iran and they are helping it mainly with intelligence (satelite), helping with modern weapons technologis and at least China is helping them buying their oil. But they have not helped with troops and are taking a position of not interference. Something like the FDR administration declaring itself neutral in the Spanish civil war but under the cover providing petro to the fascists. The world of politics is amazing and we will know what happes soon. Hope Iran prevails.
“The U.S. and its allies, such as Japan, have released some of their extensive strategic oil reserves, however they will not be able to cushion markets indefinitely. Stockpiles in America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve are near their lowest in more than 40 years. Once these reserves are depleted, the price of fuel will skyrocket. If a barrel of oil shoots up to $200, the price at the pump could climb as high as $10 per gallon. This, coupled with shortages of …”
The number for Brent Crude Oil yesterday had a closing price yesterday of 93.23. The highest number since the start of the current US waged war was approximately 120 which was also achieved prior to the war in the past six months, and also in the past 5 years, however it went higher around the time of the financial crash of 2008/2009 when it was hovering around 125. Unlike the last financial crash in which the lead-in was real estate, the open question here is this war for energy dominance the lead-in to the next financial crash? What does this mean?
Are the implications, financially speaking, worse? And if the last financial crash can be said by some to be intentional for the purpose of superfying the largest companies in the US, was this war waged intentionally with this superfying corporation idea as at least one possible goal for waging this war? [Note the homoymistic use of the word “wage”.]

When I lived in Ukraine (2004-2012) it was the fashion to denigrate all things Western.

Long as Yankee Dollars will still buy loyalty, the West has nothing to fear.

But the bully is about to be surpassed in strength by his old enemies.
Not really, as they are timid. The dominant country is the one willing to "go there" If you've ever had a relationship with a psycho, you'll understand the dynamic.
It seems this time the bully is being surpassed by the global south.
Since China is afraid to respond I'm afraid that's not the case.
The final nail in the coffin was moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Not that I was surprised.
Who will stop these monstrous acts of violence?
They are the same. Our intelligence has always been inflitrated by Israel with the collaboration of the American Zionists which were also part of the CIA, and now, of our armed forces.
China is not exhibiting world leadership, but self-interest. It has the power to exert more pressure on the U.S. than Israel, even through diplomatic means, but it has elected not to do so.
I think that what China is exhibiting is cleverness. They are watching and waiting for the west to continue its own folly till the moment arrives they know is the time to become the leaders of the world.
When it comes to transitioning off oil and gas......they already are the leaders of the world.
The Chinese government could easily float the Iranian war effort financially.
That they have not done so in spite of Iran's financial strain is telling.
We will have to wait.
China is a long way off and has her own problems (mainly corruption what I heard from 1st hand) and yes, they concentrate on self-interest!
Thanks Chris Hedges!
“The U.S. and its allies, such as Japan, have released some of their extensive strategic oil reserves, however they will not be able to cushion markets indefinitely. Stockpiles in America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve are near their lowest in more than 40 years. Once these reserves are depleted, the price of fuel will skyrocket. If a barrel of oil shoots up to $200, the price at the pump could climb as high as $10 per gallon. This, coupled with shortages of …”
Here are some ballpark numbers according to the Yahoo Finance graphs at https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BZ%3DF/ :
