'Israel lies like it breathes.' Yes, indisputable. Thank you, Chris, for the clarity and truth of all your journalism.

Robert Fisk was one of my heroes. He, like you, Mr. Hedges, put his life on the line many times to report the truth from the front lines. You guys are true journalists: a rare breed indeed, ignored and slandered by mainstream media.

My fear, or one of them, is that the American (and the British, and German) people actually like being fed the pablum which MSM promotes: that our "side" is always right, always virtuous, never commit war crimes... This enables us to go on with our genocide without coming to terms with what this means.

I prefer the discomfort of knowing what's going on, and my gratitude for your work, Mr Hedges, and the ultimate sacrifices being made by the Gazan journalists can't be expressed enough.

“Israel lies like it breathes.” Absolutely. Without the courageous journalists who seek to report the actual stories, there can never be freedom and justice for most people. We cannot allow the sacrifices of these true heroes to go unnoticed and unappreciated. There must be a way to counter the blather of the corporate msm.

Thank you Chris for keeping those of us who want to know the truth well informed. It doesn’t seem like any Western Media outlets are reliable sources of the truth anymore. I honestly don’t see any end to the Palestinian genocide until Israel isn’t allowed to exist anymore. The two state solution was never a viable solution and never will be.

I had a friend who was a senior political investigative reporter. Prior to that, he'd been a real war correspondent for many years. He told me he never really got over the constant PTSD, which made him into someone difficult to live with.

Ernie Pyle, famous WWII front line reporter, was killed during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. He was popular because he wrote about the experiences of ordinary enlisted infantry soldiers. Not from safely far away nor safely about official statements. After the liberation of Paris, he was so exhausted he went home for awhile. He apologized to readers, saying "my spirit is wobbly and my mind confused" and if he "heard one more shot or saw one more dead man I would go off my nut."

I can only imagine what it must be like for journalists in Gaza. They're not just in the usual danger of a war zone, but also deliberately targeted. And then for the Zionist government and sycophantic Euro and American writers to pour the salt of lies into the fatal wounds of colleagues must be nearly impossible to bear.

I have always supported Israel's right to exist, but now I do not see how its existence can be justified any longer. Thank you, Chris, for keeping us informed of the details and the perspective that are not available in any of our mainstream news sources. And, as you note about the armchair war correspondents, in 1991 I saw them hanging out at the intercontinental Hotel in Zagreb while people like you were reporting from the hot spots. Many thanks for your years of truth telling.

Thank you for this, Chris. Without the courageous Palestinian journalists, we would be in the dark. The Western media should hang its collective head in shame and disgrace. I especially appreciate this: “If a journalist is associated with Hamas, so what? (Paraphrased)” Does that taint their live video of people being burned alive in their tent?

“Israel lies like it breathes”, and the Western media believe them.

I have a friend, who has never felt that Israel was culpable for the devastation they perpetrated in the past two years, (well 75 years) and, yes. he voted for Kamala Harris. He is one of the Liberal Class elite who has finally changed his mind and said, "Nothing and no one now can convince me that Israel can be defended ever again." He said too much has occurred. Finally the truth is getting to the mainstream "Misinformed Liberal Elite," and that is what counts. I also bought him a copy of the "Death of the Liberal Class." by you, and he agreed that he didn't want to admit to the reality of our present situation, but that book, alone, helped him see this from a moral, historical, ethical and journalistic perspective. Good job on your reporting Chris! What would this world do without you? You are the only hope for Americans to face their own immorality and their own spiritual doom! All that you do is worth it!

My heart plummets in sadness, grief, and an indigestible rage. No, no character defect unless a passion for truth and truth telling is a "defect." Which it isn't. It's born from a holy sensitivity. It's the path of those choosing the way of the "narrow gate." Almaas, the psychologist and author, writes this."The love of truth is in some sense our beacon, our way to become more human, more developed, more refined. And this does not happen by abandoning our animal needs - you can't abandon these needs - it happens by not putting them ahead of the truth." (Spacecruiser Inquiry p. 137) And again here. "The heart exists at the level of the human soul rather than at the level of the animal soul. And unless the instinctual drives in the animal soul (for survival, pleasure, gratification) are confronted, they will confine - and ultimately control - the human soul and heart." (p. 136)

Selina in the animal kingdom there are herbivores, and there are predators, normal, and it does create a sense of balance in nature. "The heart exists at the level of the human soul rather than at the level of the animal soul. And unless the instinctual drives in the animal soul (for survival, pleasure, gratification) are confronted, they will confine and ultimately control - the human soul and heart." I don't think those like Netanyahu, or a Hitler or anyone who is abusive, or heartless can be understood in such simplified terms. By the way many acts of kindness have been observed in the world of animals.

Almaas is pointing to the difference within humanity to be driven by ego (the conditioned self) and those functioning from essence. Being friendly, kind and nice is not the discriminating factor. The difference is between the conditioned self and the self that is free. Analyst Alice Miller wrote about Hitler was beaten daily by his father. "A Swiss psychoanalyst, Miller explored the topic in her 1980 book For Your Own Good: Hidden Cruelty in Child-Rearing and the Roots of Violence (original German title: Am Anfang war Erziehung). In her analysis, she argues that the abuse Hitler suffered from his father, Alois, and the subsequent suppression of his emotions contributed to his later violent and tyrannical behavior." (AI)

Selina, I am not in disagreement that abuse imposed upon children can bring out the worst in them, but most, a majority, who have been abused by their parents do not become abusers. It also wasn't my point of disagreement with your initial statement either. What makes Netanyahu tick, and others who are in full agreement with his genocide is no doubt reliant on many factors, like their belief in Zionism which also gives rise to their prejudicial position in regard to the Palestinians, as Gallant made clear "they are less then animals", as well as their belief Palestine is theirs. Also as the article clearly states the mainstream media operates with little integrity and never holds these despicable people to account which I think is the real problem. No one speaks truth to power these days, no doubt their lives in many ways depend on their complicity. You have AIPAC and it has a lot of control over our politicians, therefore our policies. Why people do what they do depends on many factors, and very often they may start out with good intentions, but all too often lose their moral grounding, or I guess one could say lose their souls.

On the Ethics of Embedding With Génocidaires The Public Source Editorial Committee

On Sunday, August 10, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a dramatic announcement: After 674 days of barring foreign media from Gaza, Israel was planning to begin staging guided tours, under Israeli military control, for embedded members of the foreign press.

“We have decided, and have ordered, directed the military, to bring in foreign journalists—more foreign journalists, a lot,” said Israel’s premier, in a rambling, paranoid half-hour press conference—staged, he said, to dispel “the global campaign of lies” against Israel. “There’s a problem with assuring security, but I think it can be done in a way that is responsible and careful to preserve your own safety.

...Israel is offering these tours because it is, as Netanyahu admitted, losing “the propaganda war.” Israel is losing its war on the truth—and on reality itself—because of courageous professionals like Anas and his colleagues, who gave everything they treasured, including their lives, to show the world the reality of Israel’s genocide. To go on one of Israel’s propaganda tours is to accept the bargain that Israel is offering: accept the murder of real reporters on the ground in exchange for a brief, stage-managed glimpse at genocide, shown to you by its perpetrators, with the goal of legitimizing it. This calculus should be unacceptable to any journalist with professional ethics, integrity, or a conscience. Even those who don’t care about their colleagues should care about the truth. Western governments have long chosen to normalize the state-sanctioned murder of journalists. But journalists don’t have to. They can and should say no. We are calling on news organizations and individual journalists to stand up and say no to Israel’s propaganda tours...

Senator Ron Johnson is bringing up the 911 false flag once again. If you've been following the story, Mossad actually set the charges and danced as they watched the towers collapse. Thus, they are the real terrorist state, not ISIS with whom we were and are still allied with. ISRAEL IS THE GREATEST TERRORIST THREAT TO THE UNITED STATES, false flag or just not doing what they want. And through their false flag terrorism in alliance with Bush/ Cheney they now control our Congress.

911 was a long time ago. The Mossad group was filming the buildings collapse and dancing and someone saw them and called the police. The police actually arrested them and they spent time in jail until they were released by Giuliani or someone in the Bush cabinet. When they got back to Israel they did a talk show and said they were there only to film the incident, "What's wrong with that?" No one apparently asked them how they knew when to fly over and film 911. One source says that it was a bunch of Israeli agents acting as "art students" that planted the charges inside the buildings.

Quite interesting.. I never heard about it and the only explanation about their motivations to do that terrible act of terrorism to the closest and most faithful allied, I supposed was to push us toward the destruction of Iraq which was their most powerful enemy in the region. I do remember having watched a film (most probably faked by our zionist media) of Palestinians in their land dancing of joy and carrying signs telling dead to America.
