Very true. The focus of so many on Trump to the exclusion of everything else, as if he were the sole source of our problems, is delusional. Especially, when the prescription is replacing Republicans with Democrats. We now have a “choice” between a genocidal party and . . . a genocidal party. And between two parties, the majority of whose members support Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran. People seem to think they can separate out the Democrats’ support for genocide from their other policies, but relying on funding from billionaires, financial cartels and corporations assures the same, corrupt result in all. It’s as if most Democratic voters are willing to sacrifice literally a whole population, the Palestinian people, to defeat Trump and gain or retain somewhat more comfortable lives for themselves. This focus on self is the core evil. If we support or turn our backs on genocide, why do we think

we deserve better than Trump?

Nancy, I couldn’t say it any better. I’ve tried in vain to explain to my r/l friends why Trump is in the White House. They refuse to accept the fact that members of the Biden administration and the Democratic Party did everything but roll out the red carpet. They’re convinced that all would be well if/when Trump is gone, and they don’t share my passionate arguments against the genocide. Before anyone says that I need better friends, I think these people are a microcosm of much of America. They rely on the NYT, WaPo and MSNBC for their information and have rejected my offers to send them columns from independent journalists.

When I hear, “This is not who we are”, I want to scream, “This is exactly who we are”.

We seem to be witnessing a replay of this Susan, with Trump’s unconstitutional attack on Iran, apparently launched within the last hour. Most Democrats are remaining silent, with some supporting it outright.

As I’ve said many times recently, abiding by the Constitution is so last century. Thomas Massie stepped up to the plate. But only a pitiful few agree with him. (I never expected to admire Massie, btw, but wow.)

Spot-on comment Nancy. Some of can see it for what it is, and IMO, most don't care or want to even consider it. In any case, the shit that's hitting the fan will coat everyone.

This Reminds me of an excellent book by Carlo M. Cipolla “The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity”. It’s more a booklet and a great read which corroborates this article.

Excellent analysis, and ever so applicable to that genocidal cesspool on indigenous Palestinian land, stolen by descendants of a non-Semitic tribe of thieving, murdering, raping and pillaging Khazarians, faslely claiming false-God given rights as the Chosenites!

From Amalek to Samson, their fantasy Babylonian black book has history repeating itself.

The ongoing inferno of Molochian child sacrifice continues unabated...

Just pray that the AntiChrist doth not emerge from the smoldering thermo nuked ruins of Megiddu!

Chris, you are not a scientist, nor an expert on vaccines or for that matter "climate change." You have prejudices that are not based on study or understanding but rather are a form of morality which you share with your associates. I agree with many of the things you say, but I wish you would consider opening your mind by hearing what Jessica Rose has to say about mRNA vaccines and what Tony Heller has to say about the corruption of science regarding "climate change."

"Morality is geography." (me)

Chris does not read comments but other posters like me do. You are not a scientist or a climate expert - so go elsewhere with your ignorant comments. Adios

Note the typical diversion from the core topic segueing into a rabbit hole of meaningless “science” based drivel, capping off with the more meaningless "Morality is geography” endpoint, which is the same predictive and devious subliminal programming they used for the spike protein mRNA kill shot misnamed a “Vaccine” which never was an FDA approved (clinically phase trialed) Vaccine but Donny’s WARP speed bullet train to a multi-generational cancerous and heart diseased U.S. population.

A good listen and a good reminder that this -- all of this -- is not just about Trump. Not just about MAGA. It's Republicans and Democrats. It's oligarchy and echo chambers and heads in the sand. It's the erasure of the middle class. It's systemic racism. It's the hubris of the proud white uneducated and the arrogance of the educated elite. It's disdain and contempt and the utter lack of empathy or effort. It's far too many people concerned about rocking the boat, because they're comfortable. It's insulation from pain, through money, drugs, alcohol, the big job, the gated community, the perfect family, or the church that makes you feel like you're a good person. It's greed and desperation. It's loneliness. And sadness. And anger. It's rebel flags and TikTok and Botox and inferiority complexes and narcissism and Gucci shoes and bankruptcy. That's it...we're bankrupt. This society is morally, financially, spiritually, and constitutionally bankrupt. We did this! We helped create a caste system, we develop a mass-media pyramid scheme, powered by propaganda and the sweat and tears of the marginalized.

I don't have the answers, but I am looking for them and I beg you to do the same. It sometimes feels like we're too far gone, but we don't have the luxury of fiddling while Rome burns. Our children and grandchildren need us get our shit together now so they have a fighting chance. I will go down fighting before I hand down some handmaid's tale dystopian garbage world to my grandkids.

I don’t disagree with the premise but for the US it feels more nuanced than that. Are there examples of failed empires with 330 million people? 249 million are voting age and so 2/3s of adults either did not vote for Trump or did not vote at all. Are we witnessing the downfall of an empire by our own hands or by the intentional destruction of government and institutions over 40 years by the GOP?
